PALL OF ENDLESS PERDITION (2023)

Primer larga duración para este proyecto australiano en activo desde 2016, detrás del cual se encuentra D. (Woods of Desolation) y que recientemente ha reclutado a un par de músicos, entre ellos a Vlad de los ucranianos Drudkh, para acabar de sacar a delante este primer álbum. Casi siete años han pasado desde la edición de la demo "Beneath Distant Skies" hasta este nuevo trabajo, tiempo que se ha empleado para acabar de dar forma a la propuesta de Unfelled. Partiendo de una base de black metal que de alguna forma puede ser descrita como tradicional, pronto hay dos elementos que llaman nuestra atención, por un lado el componente atmosférico de su sonido y por otro un aroma a pagan que acaba por sobrevolar todo el álbum, sin embargo ninguno de estos elementos tiene un peso fundamental en el sonido final del álbum. Se ha optado por un  ritmo elevado en general, secciones de batería rápidos y con un enfoque clásico, con suficiente dinamismo para dejar que los temas se adormezcan un tanto en determinadas secciones, y es ahí donde los riffs se dejan influir por un carácter melódico trayendo ese componente pagan que comentaba anteriormente. El sonido de guitarra se muestra implacable cuando hablamos de las partes directas, capaces de engarzar riffs contundentes y directos, sin renunciar a un componente melódico que trae a la palestra secciones que pueden recordar al thrash o sonidos pagan. Las voces se refugian en un tondo agresivo, crudo y directos, sin llegar a extremismo pero bien pertrechadas entre la batería y la guitarra. Algunas partes de guitarras limpias salpican las composiciones y un acertado trabajo en aspectos de ambientación, logran que el sonido final no pierda un ápice de su crudeza, pero logra también trasladarnos a un paisaje de muerte y oscuridad de corte pagan.
