A PREGNANT LIGHT - INTERVIEW

1. What year decided to create A Pregnant Light? Why choose the name of A Pregnant Light?
I started the band in my head a long time ago, maybe around 2004 or 2005.  But I was playing in other bands and had a bunch of other things I was doing.  Around 2010 I decided to start working on things, and got it off the ground in 2011, but I had a ton of material.  So, I had a steady stream of material. Some was rewritten, some was used, and even on the last record, there is stuff from 2005.  APL is the music of my life.  It’s my defining artistic statement.  It was always there, it just took the right time and place for it to come to the surface.  As for the name, it just popped in my head one day.  I like that it it’s feminine, and sexual, but APL is very masculine- but APL is also quite sexual and strong.  I like the contrast.  It also makes me think of the Virgin Mary, which is a cool correlation to have.  So much of the band has many layers of meaning, and the music is very layered, so it’s kind of nice to have a name that could mean anything and doesn’t really have a deep meaning initially.

2. You are involved in various projects in varying degrees has to do with the black, such as: Aksumite, Bound Bible, Ornamental Headpiece, Secret Creation, This Station of Life, all of them, What Light is Pregnant their priority or each project are important to you? Do you find it very difficult to deal with all the bands?
APL is my personal project and passion in life.  I play in a few other bands like Aksumite, Known Abuser, Prison Suicide and the others you mentioned.  Aksumite is a collaboration with my musical partner Tim, he’s sort of the Keith Richards to my Mick Jagger.  He helps me with a lot.  When I write a riff or have a song idea, it’s usually pretty clear where they all should go.  The projects are similar, but they all have their own aesthetic.  I don’t think it’s that hard to keep things straight.  I’m pretty good at working on one thing at a time.  APL always take personal priority and since I’m the only member, it’s easy to work on it anytime the muse strikes.  It does get top priority in my mind.

3. The process of composing a work like his recent "My Game Does not Have a Name", is a constant process or work in an impulsive way?
There were parts, like I mentioned that were over ten years old!  Riffs and ideas, and some of it was very impulsive.  I try to be open to any idea, new or old.  I don’t want to be governed by concepts or ideas that are tied to a certain mindset.  I think anything should be allowed or at least, I would like to be open to anything.  “Purple Light,” for example on the record, just came to me in a single take.  All the music (not that it’s that impressive musically) and the lyrics.  I actually cut another song that I had recorded to make room for “Purple Light” on the record.  It was very spontaneous.  A song like “Fresh Flower Offering” I have actually had for over 5 years, but I was waiting for the right release to pair it with.   It never seemed to fit until it made sense in the context of the full length.

4. Do you find it very difficult to have to compose all the parts of instruments and voices? What is the hardest part of recording for you?
The guitar parts are my favorite, and the easiest.  It’s my love.  I love the guitar so much.  The bass is becoming easier, but it’s a bit tricky.  I’m a big fan of bands like New Order and The Smiths, where the bass playing takes a melodic role.  I like that style a lot, and I’m trying to let that influence show if it makes sense in the song.  I think “My Days In Nights and You” is a great example of that.  I’m very proud of that song.  The drums are hardest, I’m trying to become a better drummer, and since APL  started and I began tracking drums, I started paying way more attention to the drums in the music that I like.  It’s hard, but vocals are the hardest.  It wasn’t until very, very recently that I was happy with a vocal performance.  But, I can’t stress myself out over it.  My voice is an instrument like my guitar.  I haven’t put much time into training my voice.  So, I’m trying do to that more.  To make it stronger.  As a general rule, I like the creativity of being in the studio, but I don’t like the technical aspects of recording.  I recorded parts of the last album with a friend who helped engineer the record.  It wasn’t an extremely pleasant experience, and I’m sort of keeping my eyes open for studios that I think may be a good fit to work with in the future.

5. The different issues that has been offering regularly with A Pregnant Light format demos and EPs, Would have served to hone their sound and offer all the guarantees their first full album?
I think so!  I didn’t think about that until I was making the full length. I knew that I wanted the first full-length to be perfect, to be above reproach.  Something that I can be proud of for ages to come.  I like the small-format releases like demos and EPs, and making an entire album can be exhausting, but it is very rewarding.  I think all my work, not just my work as APL has lead me to make the first APL album the special thing that it is.

6. Since its initial demo "The Feast of Clipped Wings" published in 2011 to "My Game Does not Have a Name" last 2014 their sound has shifted towards a more hardcore proposal, especially in intensity, do you think this is the sound you want and representing A Pregnant Light or continue to evolve?
That’s a great question, and one I don’t know the answer to myself.  I try to be open to any sort of influence or direction that my heart takes me in.  I won’t know until the song is finished.  I don’t want to have any ideas or notions going into the next series.  I want my heart to be my guide.  I think the next batch of songs will probably be very aggressive,  If I had to guess.

7. A Pregnant Light lyrics are you far from fanciful themes and focus more on the reality and life experiences, what inspired to compose the lyrics of the songs Apregnant Light?
I really hate lyrics that are tacky.  So many metal lyrics are just so cheesy.  I wanted to write something that would age well.  I also wanted people to be confronted by reality.  I did not want a record that was clouded by metaphor and and fantasy.  Life is more extreme than any fantasy, so I chose to embrace reality.  I’m pretty happy with the change in direction.  It’s much more honest and naked feeling, but at the same time, I think a lot of people are caught off guard by it.

8. For the recording of his last album had the collaboration of a pair of musicians, how should these collaborations? Are you willing to incorporate musicians permanently to A Pregnant Light?
For the full length, I just wanted the best possible performances.  I know that my friends TIm and Jake could play bass and drums than I could, so I asked for their help.  I made demos of the material and had a sort of “musical roadmap” for them to follow.  For the most part, they just played what I wrote, but of course they added a bit of their own flavor and I think it turned out wonderfully.  I don’t think anyone will ever be “permanent” in APL except for me.  I don’t want people to get attached to a lineup.  APL is me, and me alone.

9. How were your beginnings in music and why he decided to become a musician? What other hobbies besides music occupy your time?
I saw Nirvana on MTV in 1993 and music has been my main focus since then.  That’s when I decided I wanted to play music.  I don’t really have any hobbies that aren’t music related.  I listen to music, learn about it.  Check out bands, and buy records.  I don’t go to a lot of shows.  My only real hobby is that I love American football.  I’m a Kansas City Chiefs fan.  I love football and live for it during the season, but even then- when I’m watching games I have a guitar in my hands and am usually writing riffs.

10. On the cover of "My Game Does not Have a Name" appears a picture of him, leaving seems somewhat covers the inclusion of related films or evocative scenes of death and loneliness, Have you chosen the latter by what "My Game Does not Have a Name" is a more personal album?
Yes!  I wanted the cover to not be some shitty graphic design nightmare, or bad photoshop affair.  I wanted it to be a classic and timeless image.  I of course wanted it to be myself, and in black and white.  Something stark, real, and honest.  I was inspired by photos of Elvis and James Dean, and John F. Kennedy.  I wanted the photo to be beautiful, but open to interpretation.  I think death and loneliness are interesting observations.  I felt that the record had a certain weariness of the world.  I think we are alone, always.  Even in the company of others.  I feel that even though I may be around people, or experience love in some ways, I am empty inside.  It’s sad, but true.  I have peace, but my heart is always heavy and sad.  I hope that doesn’t make me seem to melodramatic.  I’m generally a quite affable, funny person, but I suppose the older I get, the more I realize that no one and nothing fits quite like it used to.

11. What has imminent plans to A Pregnant Light?
My main goal is go get massively popular, be able to buy a Rolex, get a white gold tooth, and maybe get my face tattooed.  I would also like to be loved and adored like Morrissey or Elvis. and to keep writing the best music in the whole world.

12. Thank you very much for taking the time to Black Metal Spirit, if you want to add something for the followers of A Pregnant Light, this is the place. I hope the questions are to your liking.
Thank you for the time and effort you put into these questions!  I hope that my answers find you and your readers well.  I hope that they shed a bit of light and I just want to thank you personally, and your readers for taking the time to care!  My final message is simple.  Join the Lilajugend.  c u in the L.I.G.H.T.

EDENKAISER - ENTREVISTA

Lianne Krossburner: ¡Buenas, Fran!

Lianne Krossburner: Gracias a ti, Fran.

SIRIUS

SPECTRAL TRANSITION - DIMENSION SIRIUS (2001)
There are only those weak enough to believe they are.
And those strong enough to revel in the

Destroy the Earthly.

From afar, I watch my soul step forth
Into the searing radiance of the mirror's other side

Engulfed in cataclysmic bursts of energy
Ephemeral nightmarish shapes permeate my consciousness
Psionic ripples in the galaxy-crested sidereal waves
Violently stir the stygian bejewelled aether

Enshrouded by billowing tides of skyfire
My spiritual mantle blown by newborn solar winds
I behold new universes in ireful bloom

Once more, as has been for countless times before,
The siren call of creative energy is answered
By the unseen magickal forces
That interweave space and time

Standing and watching, I learn of their ways...

And by touch of their powers, I have seen
Simple drifting grains of cosmic dust become
Titanic effulgent orbs of fathomless majesty,
And still rise to transcend the very boundaries
Of their newfound splendorous existence...

Such magnificent power!
7. Axis 03:51
Where hierarchies were found
We met the structures veiled to life.

All the grief as stone, cold as the night.
Sharpened light, bleeding the sun
In seas revolving inorganic cycles.

Eyes wide open absorb the wave of conception
And the mouth bond to lies replicates
The horror of mankind.

Transition begins.

I drain the abyss.
Forging a dying planet
With the demons in my head.

Travelling in this admirable tunnel
Words pull the trigger in vectors
Constructing reality from a third point of view.

Behold the seeds of the universe.
8. Stellar Transcendence 05:19
Amidst the troubled sleep of a Midwinter night, Whilst unknown horrors plagued my dreams Of dreary temples of old, I beheld a distant wall strewn with arcane glyphs That spoke of a terrible invocation... And walking up, I realised That all factors were now in conjunction The ever so distant time that scribe's dreams has prophesised Was now at hand... What an astounding revelation I have been bestowed! The Horned Moon is standing high above the Earth tonight And rends alight strange silhouettes in the pitch black ground I kneel betwixt fragrant trees and shape-shifting shadows And my mortal senses are permeated for one last time I recite the conjuration of the elder stars The ancient, arcane words sear my writhing tongue Now I feel their power surge all about and throughout me And seep through every pore of my thirsting soul Secrets never known to Man reveal before my eyes I become godlike! And now as my mortal shells is left far below Entwined in all -destroying serpentine horror My immortal soul ascends towards unimaginable power Ever so nigh the brink of mind-devouring madness... I am the Pandimensional Liege-Lord Clad in the very fabric of Space and Time My crown is of galaxies, and galaxies of galaxies Interdimensional existences are mine to create and destroy At a instant's fraction whim Mine is the Maw of Creation that holds tight in its grasp The Tail of chaotic Destruction in a circle that forever lasts The Multiverse is mine to rule!
9. Paradox Timeline 06:48
  Enhanced frequencies of unknown origin
Billions of effulgent blazing shells
Lurking in the nothingness of the void

We ventured through.
I exploited the Source of Self-Art
Never avoiding the fluorescent photon belt
I reunited the Alignment of ascension

Who besides me, could be
This Soul in transience, asleep in a wreath-like womb
Aesthetically static yet so revolutionary force?

May all life respond!

I remember myself as the progress of creation
Rewrite the principle of genesis as known
Non-substantial matter hits me like wildfire
I feel the surrounding siege of the Multiverse

I became the dagger
The dagger that lead myriad worlds to compulsively bleed
Reality with me fainted... was any of this ever true?
While leaving my consciousness, I forgot what I never new,
I remembered what I never was,
I remembered what never happened...
I finally know what I had always been.
10. Dimensional Quantum 02:58
Chaos is the longest distance between two points
The further the travel, the blurrier the vision...

We envisioned development as the perfectly drawn line
Grown polarised, in the aim of equilibrium

Structured Genomes - the architecture of oniric DNA
Is but a part of the mingled essence of dimensionism
The principle of uncertainty
- A morphed perception of existence -

Random Vacuum fluctuation
A backsweep from emptiness to oneness
Zero-point energetic transcommunication

Ex-nihil
We hold the lock of Yin
And the key of Yang
Nothing is everything

- Dimensional Quantum -
Psychic surgery in spectral consciousness
Inter-dimensional particle amidst creations,
Spontaneously combusted into the explosive
Growth of a dying universe...
11. The Majesty of the Nightsky (Emperor cover) 04:22
Like the tide, shadows flow towards the shore of light
The night comes whirling like a maelstrom
Warring waves of crackling clouds
embrace this nightside landscape
The heavens bleed, through open wounds, the dim light of the moon
The winds are crying mournfully and tears fly with the gusts
They whip my clenched faces freezing skin with ice-cold burning cuts
Too long I have sufferred the desert sands of time But as I drown in darkness it will release the sign My soul will leave this mortal coil of flesh and earthly life
to fly into the mist of night
into the nightside eclipse
and experience existence on the other side
As a stone of scorching enthusiasm
I refract the reflecting surface of this unfathomable sea
Growing circles of grief and pain slides across the land
as an omen of the horror yet to come
The strength of a thousand fire-breathing demons breed in my infernal, sinking soul
And as I reach the surface once again these
powers are under my control
Now I am one with the night sky majesty.

NO MERCY FOR MAYHEM (2014)
1. The Mercy Curse 00:44  instrumental
2. Evil like a Knife 03:09
  Heathen possessed cursed from birth
Mark of the beast engraved cross will turn
No laws of light shall be obeyed
Demonic pits were summoned priests were chained
Evil x3 like a knife
Baptized in vomit straight from the ram
Drink all the blood that's given from your hand
Lessons of holy fully denied
A lethal dose of blasphemy were mine
Evil x3 like a knife
Your sole creation of wickedness
Born to burn and defile your holiness
The gates of hell are open wide
Bursting out with vengeance souls collide

4. No Mercy for Mayhem 03:22
Your eyes have seen beyond holy darkness No lies can stop the fate that's upon us Rise, demons rise bring forth your black curse No mercy for mayhem - no mercy for the dead Hell's finally here Mass graves and powers from hell we demand Bloodstains are given upon his command Fall from the sky your lord of no worth Rise, Satan rise bring forth your black curse

Last attack, your prayers won't come true Don't turn your back one more then I'm through The final rape of night no more hell to give No one left to live, never to be missed Final rape final rape The final rape of night Your tears of jizz don't impress at all And never will Your cries for god now long forgot So just lie there still No sympathy, remorse or regrets None to be had Devastating violating penetration With more to spread

VACANT FACE (2014)

1. Ov Chaos and Imagination (Intro) 01:36  instrumental
2. Eternal Martyrium 03:45
  Eradicate is our duty
Apocalypse has come
Fucking christians, you'll suffer
The wrath of the horde
Eternal torment by pagan's hands
You'll taste the martyrium
Of your beloved Lord
Your pleas are shackles to freedom
Flames what you deserve

Eternal Martyrium
Insane devotion, nails in entrails
Ropes immobilize your movements,
Rough and unbreakable.
Blood in nails adhered
At my mercy you are, rest...
Rest!
3. Blacksteel Legions 03:55
War, born to dominate Revenge to those who indoctrinate Sword in hand, powered by defiance Cause and effect is my reliance Death to the false heretic Fallen brothers were left behind Sorrounded by despair Mad will win the blind Pain makes man be a man Wounds heal, tanning our body They act as a shield Branding our destiny until our expected end Wind roars furiously It's fanning the flames War, torchs in high Our lands is our claim War, torchs in high Our lands is our claim We are Blacksteel legions We are Blacksteel legions
4. Hail to the Godslayer 04:12
I breath that disease called faith, Devourer instinct grows up inside me. Disease mesmerizes my senses. Empires born of lies, a way that should not be. Wasted time searching the truth, Your life will be nothing but grief Morbid illusions, lying and false Depravity hidden behind beliefs. Army of rejects athirst of angel's blood Chaos, my name; Godslayer doesn't know sorrow Conquering the thrones, feeding on storms Opening the gates, badge of the slain Hail to the Godslayer! [Amalthea, Lykurgos, Hamedicu, Dievs, Enki, Somnus, Ku'Urkil, Istanu, Mithras!] Time has come, countdown is over Night has fallen, moon arises And devils growl under the mystical mater Just one God has survived to my wrath He who kneels in front of me Pleading for his sordid existence Proudly I'll wear his stinky skin Divine denial, extreme ecstasy Your God died, we will live!
5. The Witch and the Beast 06:16
Long winter, cold and raw Woman looks the pale moon Bloody tears falls in the snow Her soul is possessed by the beast Who she had loved. Wicked daughter, tempting flesh Witch and beast, eternal disgrace. Ancient hunger, unchained anger Satan bastard, nightfall master Lovers howl was her damnation Black magic, inheritance of ancestors. Fault of destiny, cruelty of beast Blessed sins, unholy witch Long winter, cold and raw Bitch looks the pale moon Essence of delight stains the snow Her body is possessed by the beast She had invoked.
6. The Blademaster 04:01
Seeking death I waste my breath
By a wasteland I roam
Living without fate, seing without eyes
My flesh is here, ethereal being is gone.

Flattered to this hopeless and anguish ground
Eliminate the purity that befouls the world

Agony is my pleasure
My sick mind is chasing you
I feed of suffering
Blademaster is chasing you

Nor dead you will rest
In your worst nightmares
You will die over and over again
Do you remember me?
Ten lifetimes ago I begged for my life
But your mercy was denied
Denied!

Agony is my pleasure
My sick mind is chasing you
I feed of suffering
Blademaster is chasing you
7. Nekrozone (For the Blood of the Future Fallen) 05:14
Shattered inocence, disturbed sanity Impaled nature, skinned fidelity. Beyond repair damage, far from change No time for regrets, words based on dread One thousand million volts tears Necrozone will take its debt. [Water, air, fire, earth Water, air, fire, death] Mother is betrayed by the son Your pain is now burning in your guts Your heart is torn apart Mother, destroy our lives. For the blood of the future fallen we'll mourn For the blood of our progeny we'll bemoan Mother Earth listen our words The stars keep the secret of our faults
8. Oblivion Remains 04:28
Oxide and blood permeate the ruins Of what one day were walls Damn smell that keep me awake My immortal condition is my squall Of guiltiness Blast from the past bursts into my brain Ripping my condemned soul Oh, it hurts, so grievous My fury was my hole Oblivion remains Remains inside me Assassin's deceit Deceit is the only way Bloodlust persist Sharpening the knife Oblivion remains The only thing that exist Ruthless void, What do you want from me? I gave you my indicted spirit, Wicked for aeons I'll be Pain I spread Is eating me now Voices forced me Devil told me. Oh so grievous It hurts Bleakness... Oh hatred
