XUL - ENTREVISTA

Good morning, how about. thank you very much for agreeing to answer questions

1. Could you tell us a little as has been the process of composing this work? What issues have motivated you when composing?

The entire process of writing and recording the album was a lot of fun, since we’ve been friends for a long time. We had a few tough times recording since it was all of our first times at attempting to record anything. But we definitely learned from our mistakes, and our next project will hopefully go a little smoother.

2. The sound of malignance is terribly influenced by bands like Behemoth, but you will add a very personal by including or clean melodic passages. How did these ideas? Where would fit the group's sound in the scene?

We were very inspired by the clean sections in Obscura’s work. We add these parts in the song to portray the emotion we feel about the individual songs premise. Sometimes it’s impossible to get the passion across with distortion. Which is a pretty unique trait in the BC metal scene but we’ve gotten a good response from fans.

3.The group was born in 2008, the five members of the group, are involved in other projects or exclusive dedication is Xul? Took you four years the composition of this work?

We’ve all been in bands prior to Xul, except Levi, but none of us were as serious about creating a meaningful project until we started working together. We wrote a lot of songs in the last 5 years but we didn’t want to record anything until we had a complete set list of songs that truthfully portrayed the sound we were going for.

4. What groups influence the band's sound? Let destacaríais groups of Canadian black scene

There was this one band that was around when we were younger called Black Throne Kingdom. After that we all got really into black metal. But, mostly big bands like Behemoth, Watain, Obscura, and Thulcandra. Check out Gladius Sky.

5 How is the public responding at concerts? Have you prepared a tour?

We always have a great response at local shows. We want to tour and play as many new places as possible. We’re planning to tour across Canada in the spring then who knows?

6. Did the group's fans can expect a new job next year?

We’re currently working on a 4 song EP that’s going to blow Malignance out of the water.

7. Tell us a little type of equipment that you use in the recording sessions and live performances.

For recording, our producer let us use his Axe effects. Live, we use Mesa Boogie Triple rectifiers and Schecter 7 string guitars, Marlow plays a Bryce 5 string fretless bass, through an Ampeg Pro3 and an 8x10 Ampeg Cab, Lowell has a Mapex maple kit, with a good selection of cymbals.

8. How difficult is the coexistence within the group? Who is the leader of the now compose, or all aportáis ideas and you respect?

We’ve all been friends since school, so we all have great respect for each other as friends and as musicians. Bill and Wallace usually come up with guitar riffs, then everyone works on the songs as a collective group, bringing their individual skills to the table.

9. Cds you consider that five key scene is black.

Thulcandra- Under a Frozen Sun
Dawn- Slaughtersun (Crown of the Triarchy)
Watain- Lawless Darkness
Dissection- Storm of the Light’s Bane
Immortal- At the Heart of Winter

10. Thank you very much for your time, if you want to add something for people who like Xul, this place, thanks. I hope the questions are to your liking.

Thanks to everybody who has supported us thus far. Keep your eyes peeled for Xul’s next EP release coming later in 2013. Cheers

BLAZE OF SORROW - ENTREVISTA

Good evening Peter, thank you very much for agreeing to answer these questions.

1. Could you give a brief presentation of the group for people who have not known?

Good Evening. Blaze Of Sorrow took form in 2007 as a duo but became a one-man band after the first demo “Suffer”.  I recorded 3 demos and 2 Full lengths but in 2011, after the release of the second album “Eterno Tramonto”, I decided to search for a drummer. N. is an official member of Blaze Of Sorrow since 2011.

2. What has been the inspiration to compose this work? How was the writing process?

The writing process took one year and in this period a lot of things happened. I was inspired by both good and bad moments and everything came out without compromises. A song must be as natural as possible.

3. After a period in which the group's sound forjasteis based demos and splits I think you take it seriously and with this third. How has the group sound from your previous job today?

With “Echi” we decided to become more professional and in fact we did the mix and the mastering at Elfo Studio (Spite Extreme Wing, Forgotten Tomb…). This permitted us to have a very good sound quality and we’re satisfied of it.

4. How did the idea of the CD title, and the cover? What did it reflect?

Echi means “Echoes” in Italian. With this title and cover I wanted to create a connection between night and day, darkness and light. The Echoes of the past caress your mind and show you who you are.

5. The lyrics are written in Italian. Is there any reason for this? Do you think that this can slow the projection of the group in other countries?

I’ve been using Italian since 2008 and I don’t think it could influence very much the spreading of our message. I appreciate very much Tenhi, Dornenreich and other bands who don’t use English. It’s a very personal thing and just with my mother tongue I can perfectly express myself.

6. What are you listening to lately? Any new group?

At the moment I’m listening to King Crimson, Black Sabbath, Tenhi and Beethoven. I don’t listen to a lot of new bands, but I could recommend Vowels from Italy.

7. I see also a member of Vollmond. What brings you Blaze of Sorrow regarding Vollmond?

With Vollmond it’s completely different. I can express the most “Black metal side” of me and also thanks to the other members of the band we started a very “mystic” voyage. The new album is going to be released on May.

8. In many places you try to compare with the French band Alcest, in my point of view you have more in common with Opeth, especially in the aspect of the changes between records more acoustic and more aggressive. You claim? Convey with your music?

We’re compared with Alcest  probably because of the guitar sounds but I don’t think they’re an inspiration for us. Opeth are a great band and I’m glad if you noticed some common points but they’re not a big influence too. Anyway I like them a lot. Just if we consider the song’s structures acoustic\aggressive yes. It could be “similar”.

9. Nature and innerself, are the concepts in your lyrics, why these issues?

These are the only feelings that I want to express. At the moment it wouldn’t  have sense for me to speak about other topics.

10. Great idea to reissue all the demos in a compilation, how did this idea?

The Demos were released on Tape but sold out after a few months so the best thing to do was to do a compilation on Cd. The compilation was sold out in 2 months but now we have other copies and you can buy them directly from us writing to: blazeofsorrow@hotmail.it

11. What do you think about the current black metal scene and particularly the Italian?

In Italy, like everywhere, there are a lot of bands. You can find both good and less interesting projects.

12. Thank you very much for your time, if you want to add something for people who like Blaze of Sorrow, this place, thanks. I hope the questions are for you.

AGMEN - ENTREVISTA

Good night to you?, Thank you very much for agreeing to answer these questions.

Good night to you and to all metal fans!

1. Could you give a brief presentation of the group for people who have not known?

Agmen was found in summer 1997. After half year we had recorded the first album named ”Tartarus” with Michal (ex. Maniac butcher) and C.O.F.F.E. After recording C.O.F.F.E.  left  the band. The second album was recorded only with me (Tom -vocals guitars, bass) and Michal (drums). The name of second album is “Damnation” and it was released by Breath of night records in 1999. The third album called “Eternal” was recorded in the summer of 2000 and was released in the 2006. The album was recorded in the line-up: Tom (vocals, guitars), Michal (drums), Mormo (bass) and Tom S. (guitar). Fourth album “Dethroned” was recorded with Tom (guitars, bass, vocals) and Michal (drums)  in 2004. The album was released by Ravenheart production. And our last album we recorded in 2010 in line-up: Tom (me-guitars, bass, backing vocals), Michal (drums)  and  Stormmaster (vocal). The album is called “Call of blood.”

2. Could you tell us a little as has been the process of composing this work? What issues have motivated you when composing?

All ideas of all songs on all albums are composed by me and with Michal we make the final form of songs. In practice it means, that I bring the idea in the jam room and with Michal we compose the song to final form. Arangements, all solos etc. we make in our recording studio according to our actual mood.
I’m listening to all kind of metal music. I love bands like Iron Maiden as well as Morbid Angel or Dissection. In black metal my favorite are Dissection, Necrophobic, Dark throne, Immortal, Satyricon, Marduk, Masters Hammer, Bathory etc. For Michal it is similar.

3. What are the differences between this Call of Blood and above your Dethroned?, And I guess eight years go far.

You’re right. Eight years is very long time, but I think the biggest difference between these albums is in the vocal . Now seriously.  Ii is not possible to make the same music fifteen years in a row. The differences are apparent between all of our albums. The biggest difference is possible to find between Tartarus and Damnation. After Damnation it is the Agmen style .

4. Tell us about the lyrics of your songs. What inspires you when writing them?

The lyrics on Call of Blood wrote my friend Michal Vavřík. He made all lyrics for Tartarus, and some also for Damnation, Eternal and Dethroned. The songs are full of darkness and full of death. But not stupid, quite symbolic.

5. Which bands have influenced your sound?

We make the sound ourselves, or Michal makes it. We don´t try to draw near any specific bands, but I think at some parts it is possible to hear there Dissection. But it was not the intention.

6. Five essential albums in black history

It is very subjective, for me the essentials are:
Bathory: Blood fire death
Mayhem: De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas
Satyricon: Nemesis divina
Immortal: Pure Holocaust
Dissection: Storm of the light’s bane

7. From your early musical group's proposal was very close to thrash sound, something that to this day is still there, how did the idea to form the group?

Me and Michal love the thrash metal music. Slayer, Sodom, Destruction, Kreator and many others thrash metal bands. At this time we are working on our new thrash metal project – Tyranizer, eventually it can be an official band.
With Michal we met in Maniac butcher, where I played the guitar and composed some songs for “Lučan antikrist” album. I letf Maniac butcher after this album. A few months after that Michal contacted me and we have found Agmen.

8. During those fifteen years, have had many changes in training, which is quite logical, to date, the band has finally found a stable?

At this time is the band stable. Now the band is Michal and me, it is the same from the beginning. The problems with members forced us to stop concert activities. I don´t say this is for ever, but currently it is true.

9. How difficult is the coexistence within the group? Who is the leader of the now compose, or all aportáis ideas and you respect?

According to what I said earlier the coexistence in the group is easy. With Michal we have similar view on the music and other things also.

10. Tell us a little type of equipment that you use in the recording sessions and live performances.

I have Jackson guitar with EMG pickups, Mesa boogie triple rectifier, Mesa boogie box and Mesa boogie V-twin pedal. I use the DR strings and George Dennis picks.
Michal plays the Mapex drums with double kick drum. He has special edition of this drums and special edition of snare drum.
For recording we use Shure microphones, for overheads with phantom power.

11. In relation to the concerts, how is being received by the public in this new job?

We had only one gig with this stuff, but from fans and zines as well we have good reviews.

12. Thank you very much for your time, if you want to add something for people who like Agmen, this place, thanks. I hope the questions are for you.

Thank you for the interwiew. I would like to thank to all fans of Agmen for their support for fifteen years. Metal forever!!!

BLACK HAMMER - ENTREVISTA

La banda francesa Black Hammer viene de editar recientemente Darker Days Will Come, trabajo que continúa el legado de su primera demo y permite que se asiente en el underground como banda a tener en cuenta. Al habla con The Iron Messiah. Boas noites.

1. Could you give a brief presentation of the group for people who have not known?

The band was formed early 2010 as a solo project because I didn’t know musicians that could fit into it… In the very end of 2010, the first demo tape was put out on Impious Desecration Records, limited to 300 copies, sold out from them now but still available on some underground metal distros. In September 2011 I returned to the studioto record my first mini album : Darker Days Will Come, which has been available on CD in June 2012. The MLP version of the mini album shall come very soon now. I still plan to return to studio and record new songs…

2. Could you tell us a little as has been the process of composing this work?

I was unemployed, depressed, angry, hateful, and I focused on Black Hammer a lot, trying to be DARKER and more brutal than my previous work. I think I succeeded, even if there’s so much that still needs to be done…

3. What is the difference between The Horror and Darker Days Will Come?

Darker Days Will Come features more mature song writing, better sound. It’s less spontaneous and more atmospheric, it’s less punkish and more BLACK. Everything was intended. The future will be even darker for Black Hammer. Prepare to face total obscurity and the death of all hopes.

4. What bands influenced the band's sound and what are your sources of inspiration?

I am influenced by European Black Metal, from Scandinavia, France and Eastern countries as well as South American Blackdeathrash metal from the late 80’s. My sources of inspiration are me, my life and fantasy stuffs.

5. Have you thought about trying to take the group to direct, assisted by other musicians?

Yes I would be very glad to perform live. It’s part of my future plans, but I don’t know if it will happen. I’m searching for special people, not average crappy metalheads that can’t FEEL the spirit of Black Hammer. I need dedication from members to my band. It’s something really serious. People don’t want to be involved in anything these days.

6. What are your five key disk within the black metal?

Only five ? That’s really hard… Here are A FEW :
Burzum – Burzum (basically everything before incarceration)
Mayhem – Everything with Euronymous
Darkthrone – Everything
Master’s Hammer – Ritual.
Sarcofago – INRI
Tormentor – everything from the 80’s
Hellhammer – Satanic Rites
And tons of other…

7. What are your plans from now on with the band? Will we finally released a full-length?

Well… My plan is to record some new material, that will be far better than everything else I ever did. It might take a little time, but I will stick to this goal. I’m still putting songs together and practicing each time I can. Future is always unpredictable. Black Hammer is not over yet and it will still crush your face as soon as new material is ready.

8. Tell us about the French black metal scene. What can you tell us about Les Legions Noires: Vald Tepes, Mutiilation, Belketre ..., among others?

The Black Legions was among the best Black Metal band h
ere. Unfortunately the most of them disappeared and have been traitors to the Black Metal style. Anyway, Mütiilation and Vlad Tepes did release some of the best black metal stuff EVER. Belketre is good too. Aside from that I only like very few release from the French BM scene. Hell Militia rehearsal demo, Peste Noire demos and first LP, Osculum Infame first LP, Seigneur Voland first mini album, Manzer, Temple of Baal first LP, … among some others. The French BM scene is quite divided (Brittany, South, Paris…) and very varied. It’s not like in small countries like Scandinavia…

9. Thanks for your time, if you want to add something for people who like Black Hammer, this place, thanks. I hope the questions are for you.

Thanks for this interview, the review and the upload too. Thanks to all the real Metal maniacs that follow Black Hammer in this Dark journey. Also special thanks to all South American and Eastern Asian supporters, Evil has no boundaries !!!
