THROUGH THE GATE ETERNAL (2021)

El primer álbum de los estadounidenses en un homenaje en toda regla a los sonidos más enfurecidos de un black/thash primitivo y visceral, fruto sin lugar a dudas de la experiencia de sus músicos en bandas precedentes que han eclosionado en forma de un sonido que encaja perfectamente en los finales de los ochenta. Hay que decir que este "Through the Gate Eternal" esta repleto de riffs memorables, de descarada influencia thrash con elementos que no renuncian del todo a un cierto aire de melodía pero perfectamente encajados en un mezcla de destaca por su intensidad, sin sonar del todo sucios pero con el toque justo de rugosidad que se le pide a este tipo de lanzamientos. Todo ello viene acompañado de unas voces también agresivas , que se mueven con soltura en medio de la música, entre digamos que la agresividad de un thrash primitivo, algunas influencias del heavy y ciertas influencia que podemos describir como del black metal. Y es que todo el conjunto del sonido de este álbum suena como una mezcla entre bandas como Venom, Sodom o Desaster, encontrando un termino medio entre las propuesta de etas bandas, sobre todo si nos situamos en el inicio de sus carreras. El álbum mantiene la intensidad y agresividad de principio a fin, con un excelente trabajo de producción que ofrece un sonido clásico sin comprometer en ningún momento elementos como la melodía y la visceralidad. En medio del álbum nos encontramos con un tema acústico como "Song of Byleth" que pone un poco de pausa al conjunto aunque realmente sirve para abrir boca ante lo que está por llegar. Este "Through the Gate Eternal" es un álbum que casi podríamos definir de sonido atemporal, hundiendo sus raíces e influencias en los más profundo de un sonido black/thrash clásico pero que para nada desentona como álbum de black metal en pleno siglo XXI.
