GHOST STORIES (2019)

Los proyectos unipersonales de black metal siempre dan mucho de si, en casos como este el altísimo número de lanzamientos por un lado hace casi imposible seguirlos todos, al mismo tiempo que los patrones igualitarios entre temas acaban por saturar. Sin embargo Wyrm ha tocado diferentes palos a lo largo de su carrera, desde el raw black, al doom o el ambient, todo ello desde un sonido y perspectiva muy underground. Este Ep, que ya queda un poco atrás en su discografía, resulta igualmente interesante al ofrecer seis temas instrumentales inspirados por las historias de terror de las películas de los años ochenta. Ni que decir que el álbum propone un black atmosférico, en donde se abusa de los sintetizadores para que el oyente se sienta inmerso en un ambiente sombrío, frío e inquietante; que al mismo tiempo deja una sensación de nostalgia y melancolía. Los temas se asemejan bastantes entre si, un ritmo cadencioso, del cual es participe los sintetizadores que llevan el peso de las composiciones, con influencias tanto góticas como del ambient más sombrío. La ausencia de voces permite que los temas se sustenten en la musicalidad de los mismos en forma de pasajes inquietantes que mantienen la tensión hasta el final. Interesante y sobre todo diferente la propuesta de Wyrm, una celebración de Halloween en toda regla. (7,9).
