LIVE IN ZEITZ (2016)

Está bien que Myahem poco a poco vaya poniendo en orden en sus diferentes ediciones como en el caso que nos ocupa. Está grabación pertenece a la gira de 1990 que los llevó también por Jessheim, Sarpsborg, Zeitz, Leipzig, e Izmir y que de una manera u otra han ido saliendo a la luz de forma progresiva ,en diferentes formatos y de dudosa oficialidad que por otro lado consigue dársela esta edición por parte de Peaceville. Por lo tanto tenemos un álbum grabado en directo en el año 1990 con unos Mayhem que contaban por aquel entonces con su formación más clásica, Dead se suicidará un poco más adelante y Euronymous todavía no había sido asesinado. El sonido de la grabación no es todo lo nítida que podía esperar cualquier seguidor de Mayhem, sin embargo eso queda rápidamente olivado gracias al ambiente que ha conseguido captar la grabación en directo en la sala. Desde el inicio nos vemos engullidos por el ambiente sudoroso y cargado del público en la sala que muchas veces también cobra protagonismo como parte de esta peculiar grabación al interactuar en los temas. En cuanto al sonido de Mayhem en este directo, ya comentaba anteriormente que es bastante sucio, pero aún así el oyente puede apreciar momentos muy buenos en temas como "Funeral Fog" o "Pagan Fears" que por así decirlo es el tema que difiere un poco del repertorio más clásico pero que por otro lado nos ofrece unas buenas partes de guitarras. El sonido en general trasmite odio, muerte, podredumbre gracias sobre todo a la voz de mítico "Dead", refrendada por el resto de componentes que dejaron para la posteridad un un apestoso y repugnante vómito en forma de concierto. UFONAUT (2016)

El camino de Entropia se muestra lento pero seguro, en estos casi diez años de existencia "Ufonaut" es su segundo larga duración. Sin lugar a dudas "Ufonaut" supone un paso al frente en la carrera de los polacos, sin pasar por alto que un estilo como el black de la mano de elementos post e incluso con otras influencias dentro del sludge no es un estilo muy respetado y más bien un tanto repudiado por los puristas del género. Entropia lejos de dejarse amedrentar ante ellos han parido un álbum realmente completo y con una importante dosis de madurez con respecto a anteriores obras, sobre todo a destacar en este "Ufonaut" la contundencia y agresividad del sonido, que contiene elementos de diferentes estilos como comentaba anteriormente pero siempre desde una vertiente más directa, abandonando un tanto más los medios tiempos para centrarse en trasmitir mayor desolación y pesadumbre en las composiciones. Otro elemento a destacar en este álbum sin lugar a dudas es que Entropia se distancia de bandas más afines al género del post-black, gracias a la incorporación de ciertos elementos de tintes vanguardistas a las composiciones de la mano de alguno samples incorporados de manera acertada a lo largo de todo el álbum. Tampoco debemos de pasar por alto el elevado nivel alcanzado por Patryk a la batería, a destacar la versatilidad en las composiciones e importante papel que realiza para dar consistencia al conjunto. En la parte menos lograda podemos hablar de variadas e interesantes ideas que a la hora de plasmarlas en las composiciones, en algunos lugares, no están del todo bien acopladas y resultando un tanto caóticas. EGLEDHRON (2016)

Primer Ep para Irillon, one man band procendente de Venezuela pero ahora afincada en México, siendo Rayner ex miembro de la banda Colombiana de death / doom Cóndor. El nombre del grupo fue tomado de un relato fantástico del escritor Lord Dunsany y el título del Ep, "Egledhron" proviene de una de las lenguas élficas inventadas por Tolkien para el Señor de los Anillos y cuyo significado es el de exilio. Estamos ante un Ep totalmente instrumental que se acerca a la media hora de duración, pero que en principio y por falta de tiempo después, no se le han añadido las voces que en origen iban a acompañarlo, en futuras lanzamientos seguramente las voces si hagan acto de presencia. Con lo cual nos quedamos con seis temas de responden a un black metal bastante sencillo con un claro patrón clásico. Rayner se erige en un buen compositor, cuidando las guitarras en cada tema, guitarras que permiten que su música transite por terrenos repletos de melancolía y oscuridad, sin dejar de lado la faceta más ambiental de las composiciones. Una primera toma de contacto con este proyecto que se muestra bastante interesante, capaz de fundir las influencias más primitivas y clásicas del black metal con un faceta más atmosférica, bien es cierto que se echa en falta un poco más de variedad en las composiciones pero creo que todo llegará a su debido tiempo. BARZAKH - INTERVIEW

Good afternoon, thank you very much for answering these questions, how's it going by Jakarta?

1. Barzakh was born in 1998, at that time the training was Kiky, Yusuf and Rony, with a style that focused on black metal, it has been a long time since the band and after several lineup changes still active today with Getz and Agni lineup. At what point do you joined to Barzakh? And how was your integration group?  
I joined since the band stand.
I remain solid.

ENDARKENMENT (2016) 

Último Ep hasta la fecha de esta banda australiana alrededor de la cual existe todo un misticismo de la mano de la prácticamente nula información que se puede obtener sobre ella. "Endarkenment", editado originalmente en formato vinilo son dos temas extensos, juntos casi se acercan a la media hora de duración, que se decantan por un black metal pesado, asfixiante y rodeado de un aura bastante oscura. En un primer momento el oyente se puede ver totalmente superado por la atmósfera opresiva, una atmósfera que cae como una losa sobre el oyente y que lo desborda con unas composiciones de riffs pesados y voces cavernosas a la par que una ambientación muy lúgubre. Es cierto que este Ep se comienza a apreciar después de varias escuchas ya que de entrada parece que un riff continúo ocupa todo la duración de las canciones y que las voces aparecen como lamentos cavernosos de ultratumba. Después de algunas escuchas se comienza a percibir sutiles cambios de registro, pero sin perder un ápice de la atmósfera cargada y podrida que acompaña a este lanzamiento. (8,2).

ENCHANTMENTS (2016)

Itnuveth llega a su tercer trabajo, un trabajo que después de los cambios de vocalista de su anterior "Paulsilaur: "Under the Wolf's Skin"", supone un paso al frente hacia la madurez de la bandas y sobre todo como referente dentro del viking-pagan estatal. Como anteriores entregas Base Records es el encargado de la edición, se ha masterizado en los estudios Produccions F2F de Marc Figueras Franch y Antonio Vives se ha encargado del apartado gráfico, para la ocasión una doble portada realmente inspirada. Musicalmente se ha optado por una propuesta más directa, prescindiendo un tanto de elementos acústicos, para centrarse en la mayor contundencia y versatilidad de las composiciones. Temas largos en donde se va desarrollando la historia conceptual, que para la ocasión está centrada igualmente en el "Paulsilaur" pero centrándose en elementos que tienen más que ver con la brujería y la muerte. Si exceptuamos el tema inicial "Lamentations" que cuenta con la colaboración a las voces de Nija (Nija Lucifer), estás vuelven a correr a cargo de Funedëim que se despacha a gusto con un estilo bastante agresivo y directo aunque dejando también algunos momentos en otros registros más suaves, ni que decir tiene que la parte lírica también corre de su cuenta. Y que decir de Volundr que se vuelve a reinventar en este "Enchantments", con un trabajo de guitarra sobresaliente, aumentando si cabe, la agresividad y violencia de con respecto a anteriores entregas, pero que sabe arrancar también buenas melodías melancólicas, folk o paganas, incluso atreviéndose con la mandolina para algunas partes. En el aspecto menos logrado de "Enchantments", tenemos que hablar de una batería que adolece de la calidez y calidad que tendría si no fuera programada, aún así se sigue trabajando en ello y la evolución también es destacable en este aspecto que se viene puliendo en cada nueva entrega. Blakk Old Blood was originally born in 2012 as a project of experienced and devoted musicians from such bands as Asag, Deathcult, and Antiversum, with the aim to resurrect the old blood & spirit of the black metal they grew up with - names such as Morbid, Treblinka, Mayhem, Darkthrone, Urgehal, and Khold. With that framework firmly in place, in less than a year, Blakk Old Blood had revealed the first of the seven cardinal sins in Pride, which was self-recorded and self-released as a demo consisting of five unholy and Satanic chants. In 2014, the band once again self-recorded and self-released their next tape, Wrath, further developing their traditionalist black metal agenda. At last, they now reveal Greed, fittingly to be released on vinyl by Clavis Secretorvm. Across its four tracks, Blakk Old Blood travel through the depths of moral depravity in sonic form, raging through two tracks of primitive, dead-cold black metal interspersed with a tortured "Intermezzo," and then concluding the record with an exquisitely eerie lament appropriately titled "Seed of Greed," bringing the record to an unsettling close and setting the stage for more sins to come. But Greed is still the beginning for Blakk Old Blood. The band is currently working on the audial manifestation of sloth, with splits already planned with such elite cults as Bölzer and Temple of Perversion. Rest assured: after you drown in Greed, Blakk Old Blood will continue their sinful mission in the old-fashioned way - with tons of energy and, literally, blood!

HOWLS (2016) 

Desde su creación hace ya unos cuatro años, está one man band procedente de Italia, viene entregando de manera regular nuevo material en donde Franz va ofreciendo un black bastante atmosférico, eso si, siempre con ciertas diferencias con anteriores entregas que podríamos denominar como de cierta evolución en el sonido. Para la ocasión, "Howls" son cinco temas que en poco más de media hora se adentran en terrenos no ya solo del black atmosférico, sino que también discurren por pasajes más épicos, gracias sobre todo a los riffs de guitarras, continuos, algo crudos, pero siempre manteniendo un cierto toque de melodía que se acerca a pasajes llenos de nostalgia. Supongo que está sensación casi de abatimiento se ve refrendada por el gusto que siempre a tenido Franz por las influencias más doom en su música, que se ven del todo realizadas en su otra banda de doom "Birch Crown". Comentaba Franz en una anterior entrevista publicada en este medio, que tal vez el elemento que más rompederos de cabeza le presentaba era el de la programación de la batería, sin embargo vemos que poco a poco va acoplando de mejor manera ese elemento a su música, con un resultado final más logrado. Por último la inclusión de algunos sintetizadores permiten logran una mayor ambientación en ciertas partes del álbum, ambientación que en líneas generales intenta transmitir la sensación de soledad y de contacto con la naturaleza, elemento este último, que siempre ha estado presente en la obra de Unchaining. En definitiva un nuevo álbum que adolece de cierta variedad, pero que sin embargo cumple sobradamente como álbum repleto de elementos ambient y épicos. (8,3).

MINNERIKET

JÆRTEGN (2016)

Jærtegn es el nuevo single de la one man noruega Minneriket que sirve de adelanto de su próximo álbum “Stjerner, speil og svartebøker”. El tema se abre con un grito desgarrador que a renglón seguido se ve desbordado por la inclusión de las guitarras, batería y voces. Como en su anterior entrega el sonido de Minneriket tiene un regusto a sonido clásico del black escandinavo, erigiéndose como banda a tener en cuenta dentro del sonido clásico. "Jærtegn" es una canción extensa, repleta de atmósferas frías, y melancólicas, en donde sigue estando muy presente la crudeza, tanto en las viscerales voces de Stein Akslen como en los riffs. Un temas repleto de una ambiente pagano que se acentúa con respecto a su anterior entrega y que como adelanto de su nuevo álbum cumple con la labor de dejar buenas sensaciones. (8,4).

Suicidal Madness ofrecen en su segundo larga duración ocho temas de black con bastantes influencias de la vertiente depresiva del género, pero sin caer en clichés, sino que lo suyo va por otros derroteros. El álbum se inicia con una intro acústica, de bella factura, sobre todo en el buen hacer que hay aquí por parte de las guitarras, muy elaborados a lo largo de todo el álbum y que bajo mi punto de vista se erigen en elemento totalmente diferenciador e indispensable para lo que la banda quiere transmitir. La esencia de la música de Suicidal Madness hay que buscarla en el black depresivo pero con matices, ellos se adentran en terrenos más melancólicos y oscuros, en donde la rabia y al desesperación se construyen desde el excelente trabajo realizado a las guitarras, un trabajo cuidado y elaborado que permite al oyente disfrutar con claridad de arreglos y melodías muy emotivas, y también, ni que decir tiene de las voces de Alrinack que logran trasmitir distintos estados de ánimo, siempre ligados con la depresión, pero desde una vertiente más agresiva, sin recurrir a los gritos y lamentos. El álbum suena muy compacto, tal vez en algún momento peque de cierta falta de ritmo, pero aún así se las han arreglado para no caer en la repetición en las piezas mas extensas, gracias a la incorporación de algunos pasajes acústicos, al mismo tiempo que los emotivos temas instrumentales se las arreglan para servir de nexo de unión entre los diferentes temas. Mención a parte, sin lugar a dudas para la ambientación conseguida, mezcla de diferentes estados de animo, pero en donde predominan la tristeza, el abatimiento y la rabia por encima de todos ellos.
