IN TIMES BEFORE THE LIGHT (1997)

Un trabajo soberbio el que facturan Covenant en este "In Times Before the Light", en donde creo que el momento en el cual fue grabado sea su principal baza. Mi primer acercamiento a la música del grupo fue en 2003 cuando habían publicado SETI bajo el nombre de The Kovenant, siendo sincero me cuesta discernir que estemos hablando de la misma banda. Aquí podemos encontrar un trabajo de oscuro black metal con unas atmósferas que hielan la sangre y una voz que escupe sin piedad sobre el oyente la devastación y la oscuridad en nombre de Satanás. Las guitarras descargan unos riffs distorsionados que se acoplan de manera eficaz a una batería con unos blast beats también muy primitivos. Un conjunto que debe a una producción totalmente cruda y a alguna que otra parte de teclado una atmósfera muchas veces imitada pero imposible de igualar, porque ellos estaban en lugar adecuado en el momento justo.
