A HILL TO DIE UPON - INTERVIEW

  • A Hill to Die Upon band started as a decade ago, how were the beginnings of the band? Were always clear that black metal would be the style of music you would practice?             AHTDU has been going strong for exactly ten years. We were not concerned about black metal when we started. We just wanted to play extreme music. At the time, that was hardcore. The hardcore scene in the Midwest was really strong in 2004 and we owe a lot to it for giving us something to plug into right away. Had we started out with extreme metal we would have been the only band in the area and struggled so much just to get shows. Also, we would have sucked. Hardcore is a lot easier than metal, so it was easier to play. Adam and I started playing local shows in Iowa and Illinois just as a two piece and passing around a demo.       Eventually we picked up some other guys and just kept going. Our sound gradually progressed until we became what you hear now. After a few years we weren’t listening to hardcore anymore but more bands like 1349, Behemoth, Satyricon, and Old Man’s Child. We just kept writing faster, darker, and heavier music.

  • Throughout the years you and your brother have remained as the only original members of the band, it is very difficult to maintain a stable lineup in the band? Are you finding it easier to deal with his brother when composing?            We’ve had a lot of good people work with us over the years, but we are just the only two who have stuck with it over the years. It has been very difficult to maintain a solid lineup, but right now we have two guys that are really great players and really good people so we are happy with where we are at. It is always good to have some comrades take up the charge with you.         Typically, Adam writes the music and I write the lyrics. However, Mike Pingel and Nolan Osmond are both doing writing now as well. Elisha Mullins also did a bit of writing for Omens when he was in the band, before joined The Burial. He wrote “Darkness That can be Felt,” “Heka Primus,” and “The Chant of Mighty Offspring.” Thor Georg Buer from Grave Declaration and ex-Antestor wrote “A Jester Arrayed in Burning Gold,” “Hæðen,” and “Let the Ravens Have My Eyes” from Holy Despair. We loved his work with Grave Declaration and Antestor, and he is a good friend, so we were really excited that he could work with us on the album.

  • By the way how has been the process of writing and recording of "Holy Despair and that differs from your previous" Omens "of 2011?           Omens was written during rehearsals while ATHDU was very active, so the songs were written before and after practicing for tours and overseas shows whenever we had time. Holy Despair was written when we had no full line up and were pretty much solely focused on writing the album. Both processes worked, but I feel like Holy Despair turned out better because we were more focused on it than with Omens. We are already working on the fourth release and we have a totally new approach, so I am excited to see how this new process works.

  • "Holy Despair can be considered mature album A Hill to Die Upon" How would you describe the sound of the album for someone who still has not heard?            Musically, it is blackened death metal. It’s fast, heavy, and dark. We tend to think that it is just black metal played by death metal players. We aren’t too concerned about being overly original. A lot of people spend a great deal of energy trying to be new, but they waste energy they could spend being good. We would rather put out quality art than subpar original art. We are convinced that originality will happen, but it is not our focus.

  • Enslaved, Nachtmystium my point of view are Don bands have influenced the sound of your last album, what are you to your main musical influences as are noticed in your music?            Enslaved was a huge influence on our last album, but I think I’ve only heard Nachtmystium once. There was actually a point where we felt like our album was turning out too much like Enslaved and we intentionally pushed against it.

  • What the lyrics to your songs are and why you consider it important to write about?             Religion is a common topic in black metal. We take a bit of a different approach than most black metal bands, but I typically write about religion, spirituality, linguistics, mythology, and occasionally personal experiences. As a Christian, I take a lot of different views on things in black metal. We aren’t trying to play Christian music like Vengeance Rising or Mortification, but our views still come out in the music.

  • Watain, Rush, Johnny Cash, Alice Cooper, etc. .., artists from different genres and in more or less like you, can we say that you are not listening to black all the time and on the other hand a certain disconnection is necessary? by the way, that you should review the latest album by Watain?            Yeah, we listen to a lot of different music that isn’t metal. Johnny Cash is my favorite singer of all time, and I listen to a lot of other country. Adam listens to a lot of indie pop, Nolan listens to a lot of folk, and Mike listens to tons of classical. The indie band mewithoutYou has had a huge influence on AHTDU, even though they aren’t heavy at all. I really like Watain’s The Wild Hunt. I haven’t listened to it as much as Sworn to the Dark or Lawless Darkness, but I think they managed to do a lot of interesting things while maintaining a really solid black metal release. “They Rode On” is a really exceptional track.

  • How do you see the American extreme scene? Does it feel part of the scene or a bit going for free?            I think the American extreme music scene is really strong right now. It is pretty varied with deathcore, hardcore, black metal, and death metal, but there is a lot of good music coming out right now. I’m not necessarily a fan of it all, but there is a lot of quality in it. On the other hand, there is a lot of repetition. A lot of bands sound exactly the same.             I know a lot of prominent European musicians have denounced the American scene, but I don’t think their accusations are really valid. Mostly their complaints boil down to “I don’t like it because it’s not like the European scene,” or are pointed at the plethora of deathcore bands. But we’re Americans and not Europeans, so I don’t think Americans have anything to worry about.

  • How were your beginnings in music, cds first first concert? Because you decided to be a musician? Still preserved today the same enthusiasm as when you started?             I don’t remember my first album, but I remember that my first concert was the pop band Newsboys. They put on a really killer show. I started playing drums at 11 and have loved it ever since. Currently, I’m trying to get session work and play with different artists so I can be playing all year long and not just when AHTDU is touring.

  • Who designed the album cover? Does it relate to the content of the album and why you decided the title of Holy Despair?             The album cover was drawn by Tyler Hays, and his father, Greg, did the layout. Despair, I believe, is a very healthy emotion during some seasons in life. The album deals a lot with this season, World War I, and the darker side of the positive spiritual experience. Despair was the main focus, and has been since Infinite Titanic Immortal. It is a painful thing, but necessary for understanding the universe and god

  • How does the ability to edit the work through the seal Bombworks Records? Are you satisfied with the response from the public and media to the drive come from?     We’ve been really happy with Matt and what he does through Bombworks Records. We hired a media publicist for our release of Holy Despair which really increased the amount of reviews and sales. The more people that hear our music the better!

  • What future plans do you have for the band regarding upcoming releases, gigs etc?            AHTDU is already writing our next release, but we aren’t sure when that will surface. We are currently planning future tours and shows now, but nothing is set in stone. Keep your ears open for future news! We’ve got our eye on Mexico and South America…

  • Thank you very much for your time, talking to Black Metal Spirit. If you want to add something to the followers of "A Hill to Die Upon", now is the time. Were the questions I hope to your liking?     Thanks for your interest, support, and featuring us in your blog! Just keep an eye for tour updates. We might be coming to you sooner than you think.
Thanks to Michael (drums and vocals)

NIGHTWING (1998)

1. Preludium 02:09  instrumental
2. Bloodtide (XXX) 06:44
Wings of the night
Has turned light into shadows
And through the deep forest
Only the mist prevails
Carried forth by the whispering wind

And in a glade of the deepest part of the forest
The black pounding heart of a thousand peoples fears
Thirteen figures perform the most obscure dance
Around an altar of stone while the eye of Satan
Beholds from its high seat in the starless sky

Dark eyes stares with carnal bloodlust at the fettered virgins helpless
struggle
Claws and teeth shall desecrate the temple of her soul and pierce the night
with her cries

The sacred blood of god's creation flow
As the eyes of the creatures woefully glow
* As gleaming red as the hair of the beasts
^?
Dreadful shadows plunges through the veils of the mist at their
screaming prey
Claws and teeth shall desecrate the temple of her soul and force her spirit
beyond the gates
Of black divinity

The sacred blood of gods creation drips
And run down the throats of the creatures who from open vein sips
And the moon glows - as pale as the skin of the beasts

Three crosses breaks her skin
A soul for Satan to win

Three crosses for the price of blood
That so triumphantly brought death to the son of god

Three crosses for the breed of Cain
That throughout time in blood will reign

Three crosses for the abomination from Nod
Who so fiercly drank his brothers blood

Three crosses for the breathren of Judas

All praise the black deity
So fearsome great and mighty
Mark our spirits with thine blessing dark divine
And through our eyes you powers all will shine
Upon the forthcoming millenium

The sacred blood of gods creation is gone
And her soul is now in the hands of the horned one
Who laughs as bloodfreezing as gaze in the eyes of the beasts

Three crossess breaks her skin
A soul for Satan to win

Three crossess for the price of blood
That so triumphantly brought death to the son of god

Three crossess for the breed of cain
That throughout time in blood will reign

Three crossess for the abomination from Nod
Who so fiercly drank his brothers blood

Three crossess...

5. Nightwing 07:35
Nightwing - fly across the sky And cast your shadow over those who before dawn will die Beyond a great vast forest lies the desolate land Ruled by men controlled by Satans hand Craving for the ever blood dripping saints stone And with dark rites in the nights blackest hour Nightmares strife for the darksides blessing and the higher power And the mantel of power should be shouldered by the firstborn The one who crave evil and all kinds of human feelings scorn He who drank his fathers blood and leaves his foes ripped and torn And which the king halls up high since long forlorn Have you ever wondered what's beyond the human sphere To behold life through deaths dark veils from the demons lair To stand above the eternal rest and every night rise up from your tomb And behold life like the ones who with teeth was born from their mothers womb For I am death and so you shall be When on the nightwing you ride with me The warlocks deciple, enchanter of ghouls With exposed fangs from which the blood drouls Nightwing - storm through eternity And rip asunder those who fall for the human mockery Within the massive castlewalls lurks the evil now again Which with wise men made a truse by giving the blood of gods best men He who possessess the gift which sends shivers down the spine And awaken people who step away from the mortal worlds decline He is the fierce creature which the angels fear to chase Who see pain as passion and lives at war with the mortal race His tomb is for any horse to cross like a mountain step He has come to awake the devil from his sleep The warlocks deciple, enchanter of ghouls With exposed fangs from which the blood drouls Pulled from our frail existence by the claws of death To defy the scythe and feel the reapers breath To walk the tunnel backwards when you first life has been slain And when all mortal feelings has ceased to cause you pain For I am darkness and so you shall be As on the nightwing you ride with me
6. Dreams of Blood and Iron 06:20
The ravagings through his homeland gave the dragon the realm of Sebes
By saving his people from the turks and powers fatal to the flesh
But the turkish sultan Murad saw this as a treason to their deal
And swore to his god that one day the dragons fate he would seal
Across the donau with peace in mind the three of them ride
Dracul his father and brother was captured on the floods other side
The dragon swore his soul to the turkish realm of the sand
And left his sons to their fate in the infidel muslim land

As time went by Dracul for humans grew a great disgust
Aswell as expiering the pleasures of the harems
sinful lust
Decietfulness , intrepidity and cruelty would become his name
Man or beast, muslim or christian it would all be the same
Brother Radu won the hearts of the turks and become Murads own son
While Vlad's powerful innerself would make him king in the long run
But as thunderbolt from clearblue sky
Message that father Dracul had died

Words have arrived that brother Mircea has been captured and buried alive
Dracul swore that his killer, Hunyadi, wouldn't be able to survive
Along with the turks he turned against the first goal he could see
The wallachian throne ruled by pro-hungarian family Danesti
Two months later Dracul was cast out from rule
By conspiering forces who feared the lion and desired a mule
In fear of the turks and his fathers hungarian slayers
He fled to Moldavia and hoped that lord Bogdan would answear to his
prayers

Lord Bogdan of Moldavia has fallen from rule in a pool of blood
Assassinated by rivalry powermongers to the fathersbrother of prince Vlad
Strengthened by promises of his cousins blood and steel
Dracul now will force his opponents to before him kneel
His fathers and brothers killers trust he now will earn
The realm of Transilvania awaits with fear his return
With twenty thousand crusaders he will drive poles through
Every follower of Danesti ruler Vladislav II
7. Dracole Wayda 04:08
Back in Transilvania to be met by the news
Which struck the christian world as a blaze
Konstantinopel has fallen into the hands of the turks
And the emperor Konstantin is dead
The fear of the turks is growing but the sword of Dracul
Will show the muslims the reapers face
Vlad now took shelter in Sibiu so the coloured ones
Couldn't manage to get his head

A servant of god in league with Satan
A christian crusader who made the angels cry
A defender of moral and faith with nature bread by hellspawn
As driven by demonforces his army the muslims and christians
defy

But four years after his departure from the town Vlad appeared outside town
In the forests cold haze
His wallachian army slaughtered, tortured and plundered Sibiu
As raging demons terror they spread
Teared apart, impaled on poles now ten thousand of his countrymen
into the afterworld gaze
Maimed and scattered a few survivors, always to remember this day
Out into the night fled

A servant of god...

Dracul now repair his castle which the tartars centuries ago
Made a rampaged place
"His clothes had to work til the clothes fell from their bodies"
An old chronicle said
From Poenari Vlad rules with an iron hand and his strife for power
^?
Leaves a bloodstained trace
The boyars was gathered for a meeting and soon on poles
They dying blead

To cherish the soulds of his subjects
In fear of divine punishment and hells embrace
Dracul raised abbeys and supported the church as a sign
To the godwill he god offered
But the mortals he by orgys of bloodshed and torture
Made clear that they Vlad had to praise
Eternal death to thee who had the nerv
To not the voivod and inquisitor dread

A servant of god...
8. Kaziklu Bey (The Lord Impaler) 04:02
Kaziklu Bey - Devils son
Chosen one

After the fourth crusade all christian piety is gone
And the greatest commander against the muslim turks you have now become

Kaziklu Bey - Stormbringer of fright
Now show the world your might

Impale you every foe with delight
And let the frail decend into eternal night
Gather your armies for the decisive fight
Your elite state is now in sight

Storming in fury with ten thousand men
To teach the muslims a lession again
In the port of Giurgiu their ambush will fail
To Wallachia in chains the turks now grow pale
With poles through their bodies they all now will die
And the sultan Muhammed in anguish will cry

At the forthcoming winter the war since long planned
To spread the religion which the turks banned
Went on all the way to the Black sea
Where overwhelming armies forced Dracul to flee

Kaziklu Bey - Lord of blodshed
The infidel you dismembered

Rise and conquer with your army you people from the turkish yoke liberated
After the battle at Giurgiu the deathfigure was 23809 turkish ears, noses and
heads

By poison the wells and burning the land
Dracul only left ashes to the men from the sand
While the peasants joined Dracul the turks heard the cry
Of wolves and only saw vultures in the sky

At the "terror night" Dracul striked the starved turks
And killed thousand and thousand to complicate their works
Next morning the turks found Tirgoviste in flames
And a forest of Impaled men with turkish names

The the sultan gave up his conquering plan
"What can we do against such a man?"
9. Deme Quaden Thyrane 05:07
On a cold mist october morning
In the year of the lord 1462
The horses appeared on the hills of Brasov
The process of damnation would soon begun

Dracul would show the world how to correct
The rumanians which lacked strength or showed disrespect
The following story is just one of many on Draculs way
To outwipe every opposer who didn't him blindly obey

He killed by crushing them under the wheels of barrows
Others were undressed and skinned alive
To their very bowels and others were still impaled upon wooden poles
Or fried over the glowing embers placed under them

The cold wind of death follow in his way
Deme quaden thyrane

Some of them were run through with stakes that impaled their heads, breasts
and behind
Until the pole was driven through the mouth
To ellude the lack of any cruelty he drew stakes through
The breast of mothers and then he went on by impaling
Their infants upon theese

The cold wind of death follows in his way
Deme quaden thyrane

So many have to die
By the horrible ways of torturing them
With such instruments that can only be invented
By the most nefarious cruelty possessed
Uttermost dreadful tyrant that ever existed

But the hungarian king Mathias Corvinus now Dracul betrayed
And for twelve long years Vlad now in the kings prison stayed
But the bonds of blood that Dracul in prison tied
Made his king in Wallachia again with Mathias as an allied
With lord Stefan Bathori's army and military skill
Dracul now will make all saches, boyars, Danesti's and turks blood chill
10. Anno Domini 1476 02:11
But since Stefan failed his word and let Dracul's enemys come from every side

Dracu has no choise but with his two hundred men into death ride
During the last battle the turkish lines begin to scatter
And Vlad rode up on a hill to see the inferior blood splatter
But treasonous boyars ambushed the lion to his blood spill
Dracul fought bravely but the twentieth boyar would be his last kill
When the turks found his body they cutted of his head
Which was stuck on a pole in Konstantinopel to show the muslim world
That Kaziklu Bey was dead
The night of the lord impalers demise the worst storm man could remember
struck the land
Kaziklu Bey was dead but not gone and by thunder his foe's now again could
feel his hand

TONGUE OF DEVIL PRAYER (2014)

THE UNCHAINING - INTERVIEW

1 If not mistaken The unchaining born in 2012, why they decided to form the band and they chose the name The unchaining?
Yes,i formed the project in that year.I wanted to play music as a one man band to be able creating music without compromises,so i created The Unchaining. The name want to represent a liberation act.

2 From the beginning The Unchainig has been his band do you think is the best way to offer your music or are you willing to future additions?
I think that The Unchaining is the best way for me to offer my music cause i don't put borders in this project, my aim with The Unchaining is to play always what i feel without restriction of music and themes in the lyrics

3 How has the process of writing and recording their latest album "Fornost Erain" Is there some aspect of their music that is most difficult to be able to record?
I don't follow a standard procedure in the songwriting, a composition could take place around the synth or the guitar as well. The most difficult part is the programming of the drums: I use a drum machine and it is always a long procedure.

4 For someone who has not heard your music, how would you describe the sound of The unchaining and feelings intended to convey to the listener?
This is not a simple question ah ah ah ! I think that everyone has a personal feeling when listen to music but i'll try to describe my music: every album has different atmospheres, I think that the first album has a cold atmosphere, the second ,"Ruins At Dusk", is a blend of old Symphonic black metal and slow riffing, it has a dark atmosphere in my opinion but also epic. Fornost Erain has more synth,it has a medieval and epic atmosphere keeping the symphonic elements. It is an album of Epic/Atmospheric Black Metal.

5 After three albums released and finds that the sound has evolved over this time and it differs "Fornost Erain" from your previous albums?
Yes the sound has evolved,i want that every album have different sounds.

6 His music is very ambient and also has a plane of doom, in its environmental aspect comes into my head for a band also one musician, if not known to be Elffor, but what are your main musical influences and why?
I have always listened a lot of music, my main influences for this project are the first scene of Symphonic Black Metal but also as you have noticed some old doom metal and Atmospheric Black Metal. Band like old Dimmu Borgir, old Ancient but also Summoning and Blut Aus Nord.

7 His music eventually convey feelings of closeness to nature and a medieval era, but do treat it that song texts considered important and why write about it?
The lyrics are often focused on nature cause i think that nature can teach a lot to mankind,we just have to watch how nature works to learn how to live in a better way. The theme of nature is connected with a lot of other aspects.

8 How were your beginnings in music, first concerts, cds, etc ... and why he decided to be a musician and start a band?, What other interests do you have outside of music?
As i remember i always loved music, started to listen more "underground" stuff lot of years ago. I don't like very much to go to concerts, for some music genres is difficult to recreate the atmosphere of the recording in live concerts....years ago, when i started listen to black metal with some friends we had a band and played also live shows but now i prefer to make my own music just as recording.

9 His music is offered and is recorded independently by you, is there any record label interested in editing your music or prefer this way to have more control over your work?
My first two albums came out for two labels: the first is out for rigorism production in a limited number of copies, the second is out for behemoth production in 500 copies. For what concern the new album,Fornost Erain, i'm considering some offers,i will let you know the news!

10 Who designed the cover of "Fornost Erain", which represents and how it relates to the content of the album?
The cover of the album is designed by Alice, my girlfriend,i'm my opinion she is a great artist. The cover is connected to the story of Fornost Erain, the ancient fortress of the dunedain in the northern land of the middle earth.

11 What are your future plans for the band?
The band is always evolving, the next album will be different from Fornost Erain,i don't want to repeat the same albums. Probably it will be a more Symphonic and it will be faster, with different themes. For now i'm just playing some new riffs, i have no hurry!

12 Thank you very much for your time, talking to Black Metal Spirit. If you want to add something to the followers of "The Unchaining" now is the time. Were the questions I hope to your liking.
Thank you very much for this interview,i'm very glad you like my music, thanks to everyone who supports this project!

NEGATIVE MEMORIES (2014)

DESIRE FOR SORROW - INTERVIEW

Good afternoon, thank you very much for agreeing to answer these questions, how's it going for Rp. Czech?
Cheers! Thanks for having us, we really appreciate the chance to let Spanish fans know about us!

1.The band was born in 2009, why the band decided to create How to incorporate other members came and why you choose the name Desire for Sorrow?
Well, the roots of the bands go one or two years more into the past, when me (Johny, keyboards) and Ziky (vocals, guitar) had been playing together for some time. Than we found Ruman on guitar and the band started to take shape. After some time we contacted Bimbo (drums) and Vlajda (bass), who joined the band together. We consider that as the start of Desire for Sorrow. As for the name, it does not have any special meaning. We just wanted something that sounds and looks good and after lots of thinking, we chose this name.

2.A year after your first demo you editáis "Angels of Revenge", which got good reviews from media and public, how was the process of composition des this demo? Certain impact you expected or was it something that you taken by surprise?
Some of the songs for the demo were composed even before „official“ start of Desire for Sorrow. We wanted to first release some material and don't do much live shows and public presence until then. We actually put a lot of work into the demo, and even though we would do some things differently now, I think that the demo was a good starting point. It was recieved very well by the audience and gave us the will and energy to continue and make more music.

3.And this year, "At Dawn of Abysmal Ruination", your first album, I guess it has been hard work while complicated composition, how was the process of writing and recording of "At Dawn of Abysmal Ruination" as band sound has evolved over the years?
The first CD took a long time to produce, mainly because we wanted to make it sophisticated and not release something undone just to have a release. Composition was maily done by Ziky (vocals, guitars), while I wrote most of the lyrics. This approach worked well for the demo and it still does. The album sounds more coherent when only one person creates the music. We than play it and make adjustments on the fly.
The recording took place at well-known czech studio Šopa. Standa Valasek, who owns the studio, did a really great job and the final CD sounds very distinct and individual. We have got much experience from making this record, which we hope will help us in the future.

4.Your music is melodic at times and when it becomes more aggressive, you do not renounce to keyboards to recreate a dark and gothic atmosphere,, what are your main musical influences and how you have influenced your music?
It is hard to say, but we don't tend to make our music sound similliar to anything. Each of us listens to different kinds of music, sometimes not even metal and it can be heard from our music. Lots of people try to acuse us from just copying some well-known bands like Cradle of Filth, but we just ignore that. You can't please everyone and if you try to do that, you loose individuality and become just another dull band. It can get a annoying at the times, since we work hard on our music, but it is not that important to us that every single metal person like our music. It's not what metal is about.

5.Could you comment a little Whose idea was it to include a female voice on the album?
It was Ziky's (vocals, guitar) idea a long time ago. The female vocal fit perfectly to that particullar song and Ziky know Zdenka (the female vocal guest) from old times. Zdenka is an extraordinary singer at it was great to work with her. Even though some of us had doubts about the female vocals at first, it turned out to be great and it gives the CD some variety.

6.If you had to choose between Empreror, Cradle of Filth and Dimmu Borgir, with whom would you choose and why?
(laugh) That is kind of a difficult question. Each of those bands are great in their own way and you can't just chose one, especially since each plays different kind of black metal. Each of us would give you a different response and if you asked us in a year or two, the respones would also be different.

7.Another aspect somewhat anomalous in your lyrics is the global problems, apart from the anti-religious and post-apocalyptic, why consider interesting to deal with these issues in the lyrics of Desire for Sorrow?
Well, I always liked the postapocalyptic backgound and the problems of mankind are pretty much what can cause such event that will lead to that time. Lyrics take place around the problems of the greedy human nature and what it can lead to. There is a concept to a whole album, a story that goes through all the songs. We try to make lyrics abstract, so that everyone can to some extend interpret them in his own way and find what he wants to find in them. We also didn't want to do something black-and-white like anti-christian lyrics, which is kind of a stale topic and there is not much room to improvise and create whole stories.

8.Concerts I have been raising awareness and reaching other audiences that probably had not been interested in your music, how important is for you to be able to offer a concert? What opinion deserve you other bands who believe that in a live performance live the essence of black is lost?
The live shows are really important to us. Very few young bands get how important the live show can be. We try to present the audience complete audiovisual experience. It is essential, especialy in black metal music.
We try to play as much as possible. So far, we did concerts only in Czech Republic, but now we are trying to arrange some gigs abroad. Namely Italy and Austria this year. For the next year, we plan to visit a lot more countries in Europe.

9.Remember how were your beginnings in the music: first concerts, first cds Why did you decide to become a musician and formed a band of black?
Few of us played from childhood, others few years before Desire for Sorrow. Black metal was what we listened to by the time we started playing together, so it kind of came as a natural thing to do. For Bimbo (drums) and Vlajda (bass), the first big event was the festival Brutal Assault. My first bigger concert was i think Dimmu Borgir with Amon Amarth in Prague, but we all visited a lot of underground events by then and it is difficult to remember the first ones.

10.Who designed the cover of "At Abysmal Dawn of Ruination" and how it relates to the content of the disc?
The idea for the artwork came from the lyrical theme and the acutal graphics work was don by the Slovak Isis Design studio. They did a great job and we are pleased with the result. The main booklet pictures a prophet, who foresaw the subversion and warned people before it. After the subversion actually came, they elected him to a ruler. The bookled symbolises the contrast of the previous and the new age with the ancient throne, surrounded by debris of the modern world.

11.The edition of the album was made by Parat Magazine, how can you edit this way arose?
Parat is a well-known magazine in czech republic with a great reputation in the underground scene. We were really axcited when they contacted us with an offer to release our CD. It is hard to get into their schelude because it comes only six times a year and usually issues only well-known, so it was an honour for us to issue our CD there. The cooperation with Parat magazine went great and in a very short time the CD got to many listeners. Currently, we are looking for a label to do second release of the album in Europe.

12.What future plans do you have for the band regarding upcoming launch, concerts, etc?
Well, the most important thing for us in the near future is to do more gigs abroad and visit new countries. We are also preparing new music video, which will be shot in two weeks. More distant plans are ofcourse to start working on a new record and maybe visit more distant countries.

13.Thank you very much for taking the time to Black Metal Spirit, if you want to add something for the followers of Desire for Sorrow, this is the place. I hope the questions are to your liking.
Thanks for having us! For the fans, we only want to thank you for your continuost support and hope that we will see you on a gig sometime! Cheers!
Thanks and regards,
Johny from Desire for Sorrow
