Good morning, how about. thank you very much for agreeing to answer questions
1. Could you tell us a little as has been the process of composing this work? What issues have motivated you when composing?
The entire process of writing and recording the album was a lot of fun, since we’ve been friends for a long time. We had a few tough times recording since it was all of our first times at attempting to record anything. But we definitely learned from our mistakes, and our next project will hopefully go a little smoother.
2. The sound of malignance is terribly influenced by bands like Behemoth, but you will add a very personal by including or clean melodic passages. How did these ideas? Where would fit the group's sound in the scene?
We were very inspired by the clean sections in Obscura’s work. We add these parts in the song to portray the emotion we feel about the individual songs premise. Sometimes it’s impossible to get the passion across with distortion. Which is a pretty unique trait in the BC metal scene but we’ve gotten a good response from fans.
3.The group was born in 2008, the five members of the group, are involved in other projects or exclusive dedication is Xul? Took you four years the composition of this work?
We’ve all been in bands prior to Xul, except Levi, but none of us were as serious about creating a meaningful project until we started working together. We wrote a lot of songs in the last 5 years but we didn’t want to record anything until we had a complete set list of songs that truthfully portrayed the sound we were going for.
4. What groups influence the band's sound? Let destacaríais groups of Canadian black scene
There was this one band that was around when we were younger called Black Throne Kingdom. After that we all got really into black metal. But, mostly big bands like Behemoth, Watain, Obscura, and Thulcandra. Check out Gladius Sky.
5 How is the public responding at concerts? Have you prepared a tour?
We always have a great response at local shows. We want to tour and play as many new places as possible. We’re planning to tour across Canada in the spring then who knows?
6. Did the group's fans can expect a new job next year?
We’re currently working on a 4 song EP that’s going to blow Malignance out of the water.
7. Tell us a little type of equipment that you use in the recording sessions and live performances.
For recording, our producer let us use his Axe effects. Live, we use Mesa Boogie Triple rectifiers and Schecter 7 string guitars, Marlow plays a Bryce 5 string fretless bass, through an Ampeg Pro3 and an 8x10 Ampeg Cab, Lowell has a Mapex maple kit, with a good selection of cymbals.
8. How difficult is the coexistence within the group? Who is the leader of the now compose, or all aportáis ideas and you respect?
We’ve all been friends since school, so we all have great respect for each other as friends and as musicians. Bill and Wallace usually come up with guitar riffs, then everyone works on the songs as a collective group, bringing their individual skills to the table.
9. Cds you consider that five key scene is black.
Thulcandra- Under a Frozen Sun
Dawn- Slaughtersun (Crown of the Triarchy)
Watain- Lawless Darkness
Dissection- Storm of the Light’s Bane
Immortal- At the Heart of Winter
10. Thank you very much for your time, if you want to add something for people who like Xul, this place, thanks. I hope the questions are to your liking.
