THE KINGDOM (2020)
Primer larga duración para este proyecto canadiense que ha contado con la colaboración de varios músicos de la escena local, sobre todo para el apartado de guitarras. Un álbum influenciado por el mundo de Tolkien, el Brujo Blanco y personajes de videojuegos como Solid Snake dentro de un black metal con un sonido épico al tiempo que deja un regusto como a power metal. El álbum ofrece un buen número de riffs con un componente en donde en mayor o menor medida se encuentra presente la melodía, incluso algunos solos bastantes acertados, sin caer en virtuosismos innecesarios pero si que contraponiendo las partes épicas y melódicas con otras más crudas, como un lucha dentro del black como trasfondo y el thrash y el power en superficie. Las voces de Mike si que añaden un punto de crudeza extra a la másica, alejándola de cualquier atisbo de accesibilidad que se le pude presuponer, moviéndose por una líneas bastante desgarradoras a veces, otras mucho más directa y agresiva, algunos coros también se cuelan en un tema como "To the Pits with the Balrog", todo ello dentro de la coherencia. El sonido ofrece unas altas dosis de velocidad, la batería suena milimétrica, perfectamente engranada con unos riffs también con una velocidad descarada, encontrando su momento más lento e intimista en la intro de "Vamp, the Impaler". En definitiva un álbum de black melódico, de sonido alejado de estándares en donde la épica por un lado y el power por otro encuentran un lugar donde hecha raíces. (8).
