Sexta entrega para una banda que de un tiempo a esta parte viene ofreciendo material de calidad. "Constricting Rage of the Merciless" se sustenta sobre una base de black metal, eso nadie lo puede negar, la riqueza y variedad de riffs son detectables, al mismo tiempo que la contundencia de la batería, no exenta de buenos blast beats, a la que acompañan unas voces que no evitan sonar agresivas y violentas en ciertas partes, al tiempo que no también afrontan vertientes próximas al death. En líneas generales estamos ante un álbum de ritmo rápido, la velocidad y la violencia es casi una constante en la propuesta de Goatwhore de un tiempo a esta parte. Pero esto no es óbice para que su música se nutra de diferentes influencias y resulte del todo recomendable. El thrash es una influencia que todo el mundo puede reconocer en su música, es una vertiente más rápida, cargada de riffs imposibles, rápidos y no exentos de cierta melodía, al tiempo que podemos también descubrir influencias de rock clásico, algo de sludge, cierto toque de doom y sobre todo aportes de death en la batería y en las voces. Realmente estamos ante un álbum muy completo, que muestra una banda que se atreve con todo, y lo más importante que sale ganadora del envite. (8,2).
