ONDFODT - INTERVIEW

Ondfodt was formed 2013 in Pietarsaari. After the successful release of their first EP, titled ''I'', the band started working on new material. Ondfodt is currently working on their debut-album that will be released in 2014 by Immortal Frost Productions on CD-format and by Witches on Fire on a Limited Tape Version. The album will be titled ''Hexkonst''
FACEBOOK QUOTE

1. Onfodt created in 2013 , first as a duo and soon three more members join , how were the beginnings of the band and why they decided to create Ondfodt ?
Although both of us founding members had been jamming for some time and had been working on some material for another project, the creation of Ondfodt was quite spontaneous. The thought when Ondfodt emerged from the hellfires was to mix together our atistical visions and let it erupt into some really raw, evil and dirty Black Metal.   Then immidiately after the band was formed we began working on our first EP. Some days later when the EP was released independently we began working on new material for our debut album.
At first it was just the two of us doing everything but after we made the decision that Ondfodt would perform live, three new members were recruited to the band:  Dario on Bass, Juuso on Guitar and Simon on Drums.

2 . They have not lost time, , same year as the creation of the group have released their first EP " I " How was the process of writing and recording the three songs included " I " How is it your way compose songs and work ?
We began working on it the same moment as we decided to start the band. Most material for the EP was already finished from earlier and after editing what needed to be edited and adding extra flavour to the music the recordings began. The work went really smoothly and it didnt take longer than a couple of days until the EP was completed. After these days of efficiency we released the EP by ourselves.

3 . For this 2014 have just announced the release of your first album , is titled '' Hexkonst '' and will be edited by Immortal Frost Productions, Are you all set to publish " Hexkonst " What main differences we find with respect to ep " I" ?
We are really looking forward to the albumrelease. Most stuff are recorded by now, only some small details are yet to be done. The mixes are getting more and more ready as time goes by.  We have been using other equipment for the recording and put more effort into it all. Thus the sound will vary a bit but it will still be raw and uncompromising.
We have no certain release date yet but we are aiming for it be released before summer. The album will also be released on tapeformat by Witches on Fire Record

 4. What are your main musical influences ?
Main elements are taken from the Norwegian and Swedish scenes in late 80's - late 90's. Also we enjoy Old-school Death Metal, Thrash and Rock n' Roll so we do mix certain parts we like from within those genres as well.  We listen to a wide range of music and draw inspiration from a little here and there. This results in more interesting and original music. Some  bands that should be mentioned are: Dissection, Tsjuder, Carpathian Forest and Darkthrone.

5. What five albums would you highlight within the black metal, and why you consider important?
Storm of the Light's Bane by Dissection. A real classic that has influenced loads of musicians, including ourselves.  Geist ist Teufel by Urfaust. Lots of emotions and originality in a scene that had stood still for a long time.
Its impossible to neglect what impact early Venom, Bathory, Mayhem etc have had on the genre and how their classic releases have formed it all.

6. Occultism, Satanism, are recurring themes within the black metal present in your texts , what you give meaning and interpretation to the occult and Satanism and why you include in your lyrics?
This is a subject much represented in our lyrics. It is important for us to keep it this way. Occult litterature is one of the main sources from where we gather inspiration.
We see this as a state of existance that can only be reached by cutting all bonds to this earthly existance. Achieving this results in a certain kind of illumination that gives birth to great freedom.

7. Pietarsaari is not a big city , but the vocalist is Fintroll there , how is the local scene ?
The scene in Pietarsaari is close to non-existant. There are quite many quality bands that have been working there but most of them are no longer active.   Of the still active bands i Magenta Harvest can be mentioned. They just released their album as well.

8. I'm wrong but you have not yet offered any concert as a band, Do you 're raising the issue of the concerts for a future ?
hat's right. We haven't done any gigs as of yet. But in march this year we will start doing shows.
First concert will be on a private event but later in march/april we will do our first public gigs.  It is to early to reveal any details now but it shall be announced when the time is right for it!

9. You also congratulate you on the artwork of '' '' Hexkonst how you decided to work with him couple Karmazid / Patrick Zöller ?
I have been admiring his artworks ever since the first time i saw it. So when we started thinking about artwork for the album i decided to contact him. So then i got in touch with him and after a suprisingly short period of time he was done with the art. It turned out incredible and there is a certain pride to get to use the art of such a creative mastermind on our album.    If anyone is looking for an artist to work with i certainly recommend contacting him.

10. How did you get started in music? Why did you decide to be a musician ?
Us bandmembers have had much interest in music since early age. So starting to play instruments have been a natural response to this.
Personally it started for me when and got into rock and hardrock when i was around 6-7. Then it was all Iron Maiden and AC/DC. Then from that point i wanted heavier and heavier music and that went on step by step until i later reached a climax which resulted in a wide understanding of music.
I started playing guitar when i was 12. By the time i reached that climax i got absolutely certain that this is what i should be doing. From that point on i have been writing material for many projects, some of them yet to come.

11. After self-publishing of your first job you count now for editing " Hexkonst " Immortal Frost Productions , what made you decanter for this label?
We were looking for labels willing to release our full-length after the EP was released. We eventually got in contact with Immortal Frost and they made an offer.  As if was the best offer we got it wasnt hard for us to choose.
Also Witches on Fire Records will make a limited tape release of Hexkonst.

12. What future plans do you have for band about gigs release date of your album, etc. .. ?
As said before we have no certain release date yet. We will be doing gigs starting next month.   Also we are discussing with a couple of bands about doing split-releases after the album is released. There are already a couple of new songs in progress that wont appear on Hexkonst but mayhaps on splits or any future album. Quality before quantity.

13 . Thank you very much for taking the time to Black Metal Spirit , if you want to add something for the followers of Ondfodt , this is the place . I hope the questions are to your liking.
Thank you! You may find us on facebook and at our official webpage www.ondfodt.com for more info on upcoming releases and gigs. Cheers!

IZMOROZ - INTERVIEW

1. Izmoroz making its first steps in 2006 as Being involved in countless groups felt the need to create a new and why he decided to christen the band name Izmoroz?
- At that time , when we decided to record the first album , it was very cold glass studio covered with frost , and we decided to call the group - Frost ! (translated into English Izmoroz - this rime).

2 . How it changed the sound of the band for many years What today in the " Cthulhu " when compared to your debut album ?
- First Izmoroz - it was a studio project . We wrote in the home studio albums together with Alex from Ashen Light. After the third album , we have a full live band . We hired a new guitarist Kiv, who owns one of the best studios in Moscow - Kiv Records. All these albums were recorded there. Level Kiv-a, as a sound engineer is growing every year , respectively , the recording quality of our albums is also growing. And most importantly, we have to each album a special approach to the selection keys and vocalists . We are changing the guitar construction , live instruments , and so each album is different .

3 . How was the process of writing and recording " Cthulhu " How do you explain the greater weight of the compositions in the traditional instrument?
- The basis of our music - this is folk music . It is with them , and recording starts . When I write , I write them down on tape . Then I come to the country, and to connect them to the nature of the song. Recording acoustic guitar is also on tape . Then I come to the studio where we do pre-production of the album. Write the approximate drums, then guitar and keys . Then all listen and think carefully about how the sound will be heard or that melody . In the same period, the text superimposed on the music and songs are taking shape . In the last step we all writable to reduce and clean copy .

4 . Writer Proskofey Matveevna played an important role in the appearance of the characters , like the idea of having their texts Izmoroz music come from?
- I originally wrote the text himself and I helped one friend . But when we got psat second album, I was introduced to Proskfey Matveevna . This old grandmother, who lives deep in the woods and wrote the text. Since then, we are cooperating . Within a year, she sends me a text, and when it comes to recording the album , I carefully selected and they are laid out on the music. Sometimes fans send me texts .

5 . On the other hand their letters refer to the legends and traditions of his country , how to integrate these legends get lyrics and ? ? Band's music ?
- I write music is in the Slavic folk style unconsciously , just so turns itself. I and most of my friends are very fond of it such topics . But we are certainly not radical pagans , we like it fun and mystical Slavic epic.

6. " Cthulhu " very diverse album is " festive " more raw , more folk instruments , but without losing sight of the extreme metal parts, it is very difficult to put all these elements in one album ? he was pleased with the impact it deserves " album?
- Yes , I am very pleased with the album. And fans and critics have taken it very well. In all the reviews and chats only top marks . And now we give a lot of concerts in support of it. On the album there as folk songs and tracks have conceptual style Trash Metal and Black Metal. The success of our team is in good folk folk tunes combined with a rigid black metal base.

7. For many years Izmoroz increased in various ways, collaborated with several musicians , recorded an album with a symphony orchestra , began offering concerts regularly and maintained a high level of released albums , which plans Izmoroz future?
- In December last year, we signed a contract with the concert agency Grafias Sound Promo. This agency this summer will be engaged in only Izmoroz. Their Director - Daniel Nevzorov big fan of our music. With him, we have successfully completed the first part of Cthulhu travel to Siberia , and in April we will go into the second part . Is the southern part of Russia and Ukraine . In the summer we will be releasing a single, but all in all we tours, and tours only ! Now we are working with a new artist who drew the cover for the new album and I think it will draw to fly the entire booklet. I love it when everything is prepared in advance.

8. As for concerts, how was the concert presentation of " Cthulhu "?
- Officially , the presentation of " Cthulhu " was held in St. Petersburg , two weeks in Moscow, then had a tour of Siberia. And the presentation and tour was very successful , very good people perceive our new songs live . Now we are working with new drummer from the group Cain Skyfall. He brings a lot of new chips to the sound of our group , so at the moment we are strong to the max!

9. In Izmoroz career already , that was for you the most important moment as a band? If you had to choose an album that Izmoroz be and why?
- The most important step was to record the album "Teddy grandmother zombies." He's changed the composition , we have live band . Generally , we are faced with every album , "How to write the material so that it was new, without losing old fans ? " . While we successfully cope with this . We even got some ideas how the new album will sound , but it 's still a secret .

10 . What are the main musical influence within the sound Izmoroz?
- Basically, we fans of old metal nineties. Basically it is Slayer, Dark Funeral, Falkenbach and Sektor Gaza. But when we write music , we just write exactly as it seems better. In sound and intelligence we too at no focus . Just reduce as we like .

11. As a member of various musical projects , how important is it for you Izmoroz?
- The last three years for me is Izmoroz group number 1 , because of all the groups , where I play it Izmoroz is the most active . There are Put Solnca, which also goes to a lot of tours . The rest of my group basically play only in Moscow.

12. Topic covers evolved over the years, first it was the subject of most people, the UFO began to appear , and the " Cthulhu " one " octopus " Who came up with the cover of " Cthulhu " and was referred to ?
- Subject albums changed over the years. And because all our work is based on the fun and alcohol holidays, we like to use unusual elements in the covers . One time we were carried away cosmic pagan myfology, and appeared on the covers of UFOs. On the new album , we decided to change everything , and our topic was Cthulhu. Initially I booked very insane cover , but when the artist made the first sketches turned bullshit . Moreover, this kind of nonsense design resembled the previous album . I thought about it and said, let's just draw Cthulhu tentacles are folded as Kolovrat ! And turned cover of " Cthulhu " .

13. Triple Kick Records responsible for publishing the " Cthulhu " , what can you tell us about the label ?
- This is my personal label . it turned out that the entire edition of the previous album got me , and I have engaged in its distribution . I got it so well that I decided to release a new album himself . I personally do distribution of the album and sell more drives than if we went to any label .

14. Thank you very much for taking the time to Black Metal Spirit, if you want to add something for the followers Izmoroz, this place. I hope that the questions to your liking.
- Thank you for your attention , I wish all the readers of your magazine happiness and joy in life! Izmoroz-Cult!!!

CTHULHU (2013)

STIGMATIC CHORUS - INTERVIEW

1. Stigmatic Chorus origins date back to 1997 and the band Charon , How were these first steps Charon , what happened to the subsequent change in the group's name ?
- In the beginning the band played in the suburban town " Kalininets ." Then during the first album Waters of Styx moved to Moscow and started its concert activity in Russia . The first album was released on cassette label CDM records in 1999. A year later, the label More Hate Productions decided to re-release it on disk . Then it turned out that there is already a group of Charon, which has already released the album in Europe. As a result, we decided to change the name to Stigmatic Chorus.

2 . How has it changed the sound Stigmatic Chorus along these years How would you describe the sound of "Fanatic" for someone you have not heard ?
- In 2005 , the year we have completely changed the composition . We collected a new composition in which we play so far. Then it started cooperation with KIV records. The recording quality was very high , you can hear the difference by comparing the first two albums , and Gedonist 2008 . In 2012, the world began to collaborate studio Arsafes Records. This studio is located in an adjacent room from our base , so we decided to record an album Fanatic there. The new album will be recorded there too .

3 . How was the process of writing and recording "Fanatic" Does the leader when it comes to making decisions in the recording or all members contribute ?
- All albums , starting with the year 2008 were recorded by the same scheme : first, our singer writes demos consisting of multiple fragments , unrelated . Then I go with these records to the studio, and we join together with a sound engineer in the music of the song. Write entire songs already in the demo version. Then get these records back to the singer and he wrote vocals . Finally, we are already writing songs ready to clean copy . And only then decide what we play live :))

4 . Symphonic black today somewhat distorted because of groups that have tarnished the essence of the genre , Stigmatic Chorus not only stays true to the principles of the genre, but also provides a fresh , what are your main influences in the preparation of music ?
- I believe that there are many kinds of black metal: old new , mixed with other styles . When we are working on the music , do not think about reference . How do we get and go out. Personally, I like to listen to metal albums that were released prior to 2000.

5 . Another remarkable aspect of "Fanatic" is a conceptual history behind here ? Could you explain a little more conceptual album history and why these thoughts?
- Unusual place for events and unusual time for this genre , album " The Believer " is the story of one city in North America. Town in western Illinois , SSHA.V 1837 city residents elected mayor pious man and former military prosecutor and the prophet of the new church . In a short time his political career went up. All this went to his head , and eventually it came down to his absolute power . From the old world was very strong migration, the city began arriving residents mostly Mormons , that was very much to oppress people long entrenched . Over this period in history known as the " Mormon War ." Historical information on the town is extremely small. Had to settle personal sources , and not without literary design. The main actors in history was by the head of the city from which all the troubles and proceeded , a young girl over which administer violence, its approximate girlfriend and future husband, a friend, who was a military man in town . Head of the city was inclined to polygamy , and would not tolerate disobedience. Consequently , those who dare to oppose him as accused criminals and against the rule of God , was also accused of aiding the devil obsession anything and indulged hanged. Head of the city so eventually intimidated the local population that even animals accused of possession, even yard dogs were hanged . All this has led to a local civil war. The city's population has decreased significantly . Mormons were eventually forced to leave the city. The head disappeared after the events .

6. From my point of view Natalya Terekhova collaboration is a success , as the idea of having appeared with Natalia for "Fanatic"?
- I have long been familiar with Natalia and I consider it one of the best singers in Russia ( in the style of extreme metal ) . When we were talking about the female vocals , I immediately offered her candidacy .

7. What brand of tools used to create and write and that differs from that used to give concerts?
- And on the record and in concert , we use guitars firm Jackson, lotions AMT, and guitar cabinets Marshall.

8. What are five CDs choose black metal are required and why?
- 1 ) Dark Funeral - Secrets of black arts, this is the album of the present conveys the atmosphere of the night and magic.
2 ) Emperor - Anthems to the welkin at dusk, sample rate and mystery . First black album that I've heard.
3 ) Immortal - Pure holocaust - it's just need to hear !
4 ) Marduk - Nightwing, I always liked to Marduk Legion'om on vocals. It was his voice , I think exemplary.
5 ) Satyricon - Shadowthrone, Nordic real power!

9. Black metal in Russia , it seems in good health in recent years , how would you describe the scene in your country?
- By and large, in Russia there are only three groups have existed since 1997 year : Stigmatic Chorus, Ashen Light, Demons of Gulliotine. The rest appear and disappear . Typically, the maximum age of groups from Russia and five years :)

10 . How did you start playing music? Why did you choose black metal? Why did you decide to become a musician ? Canned segodnyazhe enthusiasm as when you started ?
- I went to music school, piano . After graduation , I started playing guitar . Even then, I listened to black metal. It is he who is closest to me . Later , I began to play in different groups. At the moment I'm listening to all of the same group that 15 years ago , just added to them new .

11. Who designed the cover of "Fanatic"? How does it compare with the contents of the album?
 - Artist name Alexander Tarcus, with him, I began working when I was looking for my decorator solo project IZMOROZ (http://izmorozkult.ru/). It is well into the spirit of the album and painted exactly what we wanted to see .

12. " Fanatic " edited by HPJ Records, why they chose this label? Will you continue to edit in the future through this label?
- HPJ Records - label is our singer , he is also a recording studio and rehearsal network databases . The first 200 copies of the album we released on HPJ Records, but later the album was reissued on Sublimity records.

13. What future plans should Stigmatic Chorus about upcoming releases, concerts, etc. ... ?
- We are currently writing a new album , recorded two instrumental tracks . But there is nothing to tell details . We'll see . While we give concerts in Moscow alone .

14. Thank you very much for taking the time to Black Metal Spirit, if you want to add something for the followers of Stigmatic Chorus, this place. I hope that the questions to your liking.
- Listen to the Russian metal glory Stigmatic Chorus, glory Black Metal Spirit!!!

IN ARTICULO MORTIS (2013)
1. Nadchodzi Noc 05:22
  Nadchodzi noc; słońce strwożone ucieka
I broczy krwią.
Promienie jego najkrwawsze
Przez oczy
W mózgu mojego głąb
Zapadły.
Już przyszła noc. Ciemności najtwardsze wieka
Spadły na oczy:
Strwożony wstecz zwracam wzrok -
W mózgu mojego głąb -
I widzę, jak w mojej krwi
Skąpane słońca promienie
- Najkrwawsze -
Goreją w żar i blask,
Przed którym noc pierzcha
Na zawsze!

3. ... 10:12
Ach! Jak posępnie las ten dziki!
Ponura jego głąb i ciemna,
Pełna milczenia i tajemna.
Ach! Jak posępnie las ten dziki!

Drzewa wpółmartwe, chorowite
Noszą zwiędnięte liście suche;
I nieruchomo stoją głuche
Drzewa wpółmartwe, chorowite.

Mrok gęsty zaległ las ten smutny
I nigdy promień słońca złoty
Nie wszedł przez żółte drzew uploty:
Mrok gęsty zaległ las ten smutny.

Niekiedy tylko błędny ognik
Leci nad błotne topieliska,
I wśród ciemności złudnie błyska
Niekiedy tylko błędny ognik.

Cisza, co drzemie tu grobowa,
Przytłacza piersi jak kamieniem,
I myśl zabija ci milczeniem
Cisza, co drzemie tu grobowa.

W tym ciemnym, mglistym, głuchym lesie
Pamięć zamiera, myśl, pragnienie;
Duszę ogarnia znicestwienie
W tym ciemnym, mglistym, głuchym lesie.

W ten smutny las ja lubię chodzić,
Bo dusza moja obłąkana,
Śpi, marząc, ciszą tu obwiana...
W ten smutny las ja lubię chodzić.
4. Płacz mój żałobny 03:23  instrumental
5. W ciemności 05:32
W ciemności schodzi moja dusza,
W ciemności toń bezdenną,
Pól Elizejskich już nie widzi,
Zawisła nad Gehenną.
W górze nad losem mojej duszy
Boleje anioł biały,
A tutaj szyki potępieńców
Szyderczo się zaśmiały.
Szydzą z mej duszy potępieńce,
Że cząstka jasnej mocy,
Co rodzi słońca, nie ma władzy,
By złamać berło nocy
6. Turpizm 05:05
Z gnijącego mózgu cieknie nieustannie ropa W gęstych strugach wzdłuż ciała rozmnażają się robaki Wchodzą w serc i dolne części ciała Wysysają krew i tłuszcz pokrywający kości Okropne bezlitosne robaki gryzą genitalia Biegną do zaciśniętego gardła i oczu One pragną cię unicestwić Skruszyć gałki oczne i zamknąć oddech Tak abyś charczał i rzęził w konwulsji Abyś nie miał czasu nawet na wściekłość i nienawiść Abyś nie zdołał się bronić Tylko skowytał coraz ciszej Aż nastąpi zupełne uduszenie Wtedy one będą mogły odejść Szarpać inne ciało Żywić się ropą z innego mózgu To ty im dałeś życie To twój gnijący mózg je spłodził

GUKURAHUNDI - INTERVIEW

1. Can we place the beginning of Gukurahundi in the band The Daemon Project Why you decided the name change ?
Lawrence -With the Daemon Project we were just writing music to entertain ourselves in our spare time. Both Pete and I were in other bands at the time so we just created material that we were not able to create with our other projects. I got in contact with Pete near the end of 2012 with some new material that I had been working on. We both felt that the band was starting to take more of a serious direction and we wanted to rebrand the band image and have a name that represented our passion and style.

2. The name refers to the Gukurahundi ethnic cleansing unleashed in the 80s in Zimbabwe after Mugabe to power , is there really a connection between the name of the band and this done? Is this related to the fact that Daemon is a native of South Africa?
Lawrence - Yes that is correct. The name is in connection with those horrendous events. I wanted a name that would reflect a part of me as well as incorporate the theme of the band as a whole. Growing up in Zimbabwe I witnessed countless crimes against humanity, and saw what human beings are capable of when given power. A lot of people are not even aware of some of the genocides that have happened and that are happening in the world. With the name Gukurahundi we hope to educate and elevate some of the listeners, with both lyrics and music.

3 . How has the sound of the band the fact that now all live in USA And in addition to the battery Zuccarelli Cameron ?
Lawrence - Well Pete and I still stay on opposite sides of the country so live practices prove a little tricky. As with Cameron now joining the band I think the band is going to be a lot more progressive and tighter in general. Cameron is incredibly talented and is just what the band needed to elevate to the next level.

4. Under the name of The Daemon Project you released an EP , how have you changed the sound of the band at this time until " An Apparition in Nocturnal Splendor " How is it your way of writing and recording ?
Lawrence - We developed more from a classic black metal band with The Daemon Project into a more progressive blackened death metal band with Gukurahundi. I usually come up with a few riffs and develop a demo of a song and then send it to Pete so he can begin writing lyrics and vocals for the track. Now that Cameron has joined the band, the writing process has changed a little. So far we have been working more cohesively and in return I think the tracks are going to sound a lot more polished and have an easy flow.

5. What bands have inspired the sound of Gukurahundi How would you describe the sound of the band?
Lawrence - A lot of bands have inspired me, from black metal to 60s psych rock. I am pretty open to any genre of music and always crave a good musical production. Sometimes its the lyrics or the drums that really stand out to me while other times its the ambience or the overall theme of the music. Bands that I am really into at the moment are Summoning, Dark Fortess, Allegeaon, Watain, Immolation, Fleshgod Apocalypse, and Deafheaven.

6. With Daemon and Cameron Zuccarelli from South Africa , how do you describe the metal scene in your country?
Lawrence - the metal scene in South Africa has developed into something that has lots of potential. More bands are touring there and receiving a really great experience. Even the local bands are getting to a point where they are of internationally touring quality and I think after a few more years, with a lot of dedication of course, South Africa can bring something unique to the world.

7. I'm wrong but you have not yet offered any concert with Gukurahundi , will there be in the future the possibility to see you giving concerts ?
Lawrence - Well it is pretty tough because we dont all stay in the same town or country but in the future we hope to atleast do a few tours or shows. It would have to be the right time and place but we are not ruling any live performances out. Hopefully if time is good to us we will be able to play some shows.

8. Lyrics to "An Apparition in Nocturnal Splendor " are some lyrics full of suffering, pain and death, would you consider important to write about it ?
Pete- I try to stray away from the standard black/death metal lyrical fare when writing for the most part. Blood and guts are fun and all but I try to portray emotions in my words that almost paint a picture for the listener rather than horrify with brute force. I like to set up a scene or story and show both sides of the overall atmosphere being presented. Its important to set a different mood and landscape with each track to avoid monotany.

9. How did you get started in music and why the decision to become a musician ?
Lawrence - I started playing guitar probably when I was about 15. It was just a way for me to express myself in a place where I felt I couldnt. Music is just a part of who I am and I couldnt imagine a life without It. I am just as passionate about music production. I actually met Cameron when I was studying audio engineering in South Africa. I guess I will always be a musician whether by profession or not.

Pete- I've been playing in live bands since 2000, mainly in and out of the NJ hardcore scene, although death metal and black metal are my true muscial passions to persue. Now that I'm in my late 20's full time live bands are kind of out of the question and my career takes up most of my time. Being able to record with Lawrence and now Cameron (!) is definitely my main musical endeavour

10. Who designed the cover "An Apparition in Nocturnal Splendor" ? Referred to and how it relates to the content of the album?
Pete- The cover art we chose for this EP was a painting by Gustave Dore from the 1800's. The feeling of this particular piece really fit with the lyrical content for the title track, An Apparition In Nocturnal Splendor

11. What future plans do you have for Gukurahundi ?
Lawrence - Well right now we are busy writing materail for our debut full length. We are almost done with the basis of the album and should head into preproduction before Spring 2014. The album promises to be a lot more progressive yet have a darker tone than our EP. We are always trying to push ourselves and with Cameron in the drum seat we are pretty excited to see the end result.

12.Thank you very much for taking the time to Black Metal Spirit , if you want to add something for the followers of Gukurahundi , this is the place . I hope the questions are to your liking .
Pete- Thank you for the support, Black Metal Spirit. Readers, please take the time to follow and support our label, Manicidic Records on Facebook for up dates on Gukurahundi and all of our other projects.
Lawrence - Thanks to all our fans, webzines, advertizers and other musicians that have shown us so much support since the release of our EP. We appreciate everything \m/

LANDLOSE UFER (2012)

ETERNIUM - ENTREVISTA

Eternium is a symphonic black/death metal band started in 2011 by Markov Soroka. With the success of the 2011 demo, Aura Titian, Markov had found bassist Brent Dossett, Keyboardist Chad Griffin, Guitarist Gabe Price, and drummer Cole Sandel.

Opening up for a multitude of bands such as Abigail Williams, Absu, Nile, Vital Remains, Cattle Decapitation, etc, Eternium grew to a promising force to come out of the midwest.
Eternium set out to record the debut album, "Repelling A Solar Giant" in winter of 2012. With all lyrics and instruments written by Markov Soroka, the best judgement was made during production with help from all the members.
"Repelling A Solar Giant" grew to be quite a successful record, as it was quickly picked up by Blast Head records based out of Halifax, Nova Scotia. Soon after the recording sessions, Eternium parted ways with drummer Cole Sandel, and recruited Ryan Kelley for further live shows and promotions.
Since playing multiple shows, experiencing a multitude of memories, Eternium decided to continue as a solo project once again, with Markov Soroka at the helm indefinitely.
The future currently holds a split to be released in 2014, as well as plans for the next full length to continue the story of life creations of Aura Titian & Aura Amethyst.
Eternium and Markov proudly hold the torch for those who have supported the cause. None shall be forgotten.
FACEBOOK QUOTE
Good afternoon, thank you very much for agreeing to answer these questions , how about all for Missouri ?

I'm doing good, thanks. It's a pleasure! Missouri is nice... A bit cold and icy, though, so that's never fun.

1. Eternium was created in 2011, at first you were the only member of the formation , during a time featured other members, but now if I'm right back to you being the only member , how did you decide to create Eternium Why these changes within the band?

Yes, it is true that I was the only member and recorded the demo "Aura Titian" by my own. With the help of some of the other members (Chad Griffin, Brent Dossett, Gabe Price, Ryan Kelley), we formed a stable line-up and playing a lot of local shows opening up for national acts such as Absu, Abigail Williams, Cattle Decapitation, Nile, and some others. It had a good run of live members, but I always knew this was going to go back to becoming a solo project. The debut album "Repelling A Solar Giant" was written completely by me, and so has all Eternium material up to this point. However, the other members gave me much support financially and emotionally, as well as inspiration. I will never forget their deeds and well-intentions, but it was just something that had to be done. I am still in contact with some of them and we remain good friends as well as collaborative partners.

2. How was the process of writing and recording of " Giant Solar Repelling " How is your way of working in the studio?

The writing process for "Repelling A Solar Giant" was fairly straight-forward, but often it was also strange. I remember countless nights staying up trying to put finishing touches within the music so that it would reflect the story well. The album is based around a "book" of sorts that I had written that depicted the events of the first book in the "series."
Each song is more or less like a chapter. There are parts where the music just fit in perfectly, since I've listened to enough music to decipher what goes where (For example, a blast beat over dissonant notes to portray insanity over a character, such as the brief passage in 'Aura Amethyst: Her Gaze Cast Obsidian Death'"
The recording process was a bit more straight-forward. It was at this time that the members had learned the material well enough to record it, so we did just that.

3. What major differences can be found with respect to its previous demo " Aura Titian " published in 2012?

You know, I've had multiple people tell me that they like the demo more than the full length on terms of production, and I'm starting to agree on this one... The main difference between the demo and the full length was basically the mind-set and circumstance that was surrounded around the demo that was not surrounded around the full length. For instance, during when I recorded the demo, I had only listened to a lot of Swedish melodic black metal and nothing else, almost. Nowadays I have been more keen to listen to a lot more and more music to the point where I can't get enough. The lyrics are a bit differently based as well, being a personal issues thing of some sorts as well as a prototype for how I wanted the actual songs to sound in the full length.

4. The sound of Eternium fits inside the black symphonic sound and Death, What are your main musical influences when composing for Etrnium ?

I suppose I called it Symphonic Black/Death because it carries the sounds of melodic black and death metal, but it also is heavily orchestrated. My main influences for the music have to have been the Swedish melodic black metal almighty such as Dawn, Sacramentum, Dissection, Azure, etc. It was a mix of very melodic stuff mixed in with the story I had written.

5. The lyrical theme of " Repelling Solar Giant" revolves around Auras , could you explain a little this term and the concept album for anyone who is not too familiar with them ?

Well, the concept of auras is just a way to name off the songs so the listener can know that the song is about the particular aura. Auras are generally a place, thing, or a person in the Eternium story. For example, the main protagonist, Aura Titian, is what the album starts from. He can also be seen on the album cover, holding up the sun. Aura Amethyst is Titian's lover and creation-counterpart. In the mechanism, Titian is positive life, and Amethyst is negative life, maintaining a balance of sorts, enabling them to create life as they deem fit. Titian has always worshiped the sun, as he saw it as a comfort to where he gets his life essence from. He believes that the sun is responsible for all forms of life in the sun's respective galaxy. However, one day when the sun gains an aura of noir around it, it strikes down his lover, Amethyst, and kills her, reducing her to ash, as well as the eyelids of Titian. Titian denounces this god, proclaiming that this is not the warmth he felt at birth. Little does he know what has actually happened, and the sun weeps out for help. I could write more about this, but I'm sure I have a limited space for this... [laughs]

6. I'm wrong but you are of Ukrainian origin , are they an influence for you or customs of Ukraine is not at all influenced by your past?

Yes, I am Ukrainian, and I moved to the US when I was 7 with my family. What happened was we won a lottery of sorts that made us residents within the US. I think my homeland is beautiful and great, and it also has a killer black metal scene. (Check out: Ulvegr, Drudkh, Kroda, Nokturnal Mortum, Forest, etc...)

It is no surprise that the place is very corrupted right now, but I'll state my opinions on that another time.

7. What five CDs within the black metal would choose and why?

Five black metal CDs to choose? That's a tough one, considering that's my main niche. Off the top of my head, I'd have to choose Sacramentum's "Far Away From The Sun" (Which is my personal favorite album of all time), Dawn's "Slaughtersun", Alrakis' "Alpha Eri", Nokturnal Mortum's "Voice of Steel" and Sigh's "Imaginary Sonicscape." I think my reason for choosing all of those is because it shows a wide range of my favorite albums within their respective sub-genre niches.

8. You are a young person but has already gained some experience in music, not only with Eternium but with other bands and projects , How were your beginnings in music and why he decided to become a musician ? Are you finding it very difficult to deal with the whole plane Eternium musical ?

Haha, yeah, I suppose I am young, and I get it quite a bit... Before I recorded anything, everyone used to scoff at me and disregard most things I did, which is totally understandable. As soon as I released something, people started messaging me, acknowledging my age and whatnot. Personally, I don't believe that age should matter within the composition of music. There was a time where I was "proud" of the fact that I had done so much in a little time, but it's not something to be proud of. If anything, musicians should only be proud of their creations. In fact, I think music is a substance that we create, not particularly a part of us. Perhaps from some other realm, they enter our thoughts, and then we make it with influences of our own kind. My beginnings in music seemed very fair. I just listened to a lot of artists and could not get enough. In fact, to anyone who would take advice from an 18 year old, this is the best advice I can give to aspiring musicians -- LISTEN TO AS MUCH MUSIC AS YOU CAN!! That's all that matters, in my book. Playing ability usually goes second. Dealing with Eternium on my own can be tiring at times, but it's nothing new that I haven't gotten used to. The worst part was actually setting up a bank account so I could sell the album for a discounted price. [Chuckles] However, nowadays I am not alone. My label, Blast Head Records is VERY helpful with the process and the labelhead, Paul Shaw, is one of the best individuals I've ever had the pleasure of speaking to.

9. I believe that one of the main problems that have to deal Eternium is the inability to give concerts to this day today, back in the future to recruit musicians, pro least , to re-offered concerts?

Right now Eternium isn't playing shows, but perhaps in the future with the right circumstances, I could recruit trust-worthy live members once again, and my first go-to would be the original live members I had within the Repelling A Solar Giant recording days.

10. Who designed the cover of " Repelling Solar Giant" ? Referred A How does it relate to the content of the album?
The album art was drawn by Sarafin Concepts. Ken, who is an EXTREMELY talented artist drew out my vision almost to the dot of how I wanted it. After typing him a good amount of paragraphs of the story and what-not, he kept me updated on the creation. After a long while, he finished the artwork, and that's what gave us the Aura-Titian-Holding-Up-The-Sun artwork we have today.

11. In this 2014 reissue new material from the band , what we can to advance this new album ? Remain linked to Blast Head Records ?

For 2014, I have rough plans for a split between Eternium and a good friend of mine who has an atmospheric/ambient black metal band. I can't disclose anything right now since if I were to announce it only to not have it happen would be bad. The full length is always being re-written... What most people don't know is that the second full-length has already been written by me, but I want to carefully adjust and refine every single bit of this next "book." Hopefully we will see some intertwining with live and real orchestras within this release, but I can't say anything yet. What I can say, though, is that it's going to continue the story left off in the first book. The split release will focus on Aura Amethyst's ventures in another Infernum while she was dead.

12.Thank you very much for taking the time to Black Metal Spirit , if you want to add something for the followers of Eternium , this is the place . I hope the questions are to your liking

I'd like to ask those who read this to go to the Eternium page on facebook and wall-post your favorite bands you think I should check out based on this interview... I can never get enough, and I love talking to people about music. Favorite releases so far in this year? Last year? Let me know!
Thank you to Black Metal Spirit for this interview and the interesting questions! It's refreshing to see customized questions rather than some template sent and copies. Thanks again!
