FIRE METS ICE (2013)

1. Fire Meets Ice 09:23
The cold mist in the land of shadows
Burning heat in the land of fire
The birth in a gaping hole where fire meets ice
Building the sleeping giant of rimfrost
Ymer, the father of the rimthurs awaken by the fire of Muspelheim
Giving life to all kinds
Betrayal, defiance, act of Gods
Three gods, Ve, Vile, and Oden, the slayers of Ymer
Drowning in blood, destroying his heirs
Hatred was born
Born by blood, fire and ice
A world built by the flesh of the father
Surrounded by the ocean of blood
The sky, up high, carried by the four
North, South, East and West
The skull of the giant placed by the black elves
2. The Chosen Ones 06:30
From the black water we once came
Out on this water we will go
Ask and Embla, the chosen ones
The wise god gave us the breath of life
The god of wish gave us our mind
The god of holiness gave us our vision
Ask and Embla, the chosen ones
The gods gave us shelter and hope
In the castle of Midgård we thrive
The sons and daughters of the chosen ones
To the Gods we hail for them to grant us our strength
Our songs still echoes within the mighty halls of stone
Surrounded by the great ocean on the shore we stand proud and tall
And for glory and for longing we will search throughout the mighty Ash
3. Nifelheim 06:14
Beware of the Northern wind
Sacrifice to the mighty eagle to spare our skin and bones
His cold wind thats pierces through all
Shores of longing, winter's gone
Guide us, sons of Oden
Ruler of the sky protect us
Don't take us down below
We set out sails
Our journey has begun
The mighty sea seales our fate
Waves so strong carries the Dragon ship
To arrive in foreign lands to conquer to trade
To depart from foreign lands, leave the shores in flames
Those who stand against us will fall by our hands
Send them down the river cold to the shore of the dead
To Nifelheim, they will travel the cold wasteland of the ninth world
In Nifelheim, they will suffer the wrath of the snake of the ninth world
4. My Ravens 04:16
Give me wisdom
Give me knowledge
To see through all the lies
Over nine worlds from dawn til dusk
they fly until they return
Bringing me my gift
My power to forsee
For the battle we must prepare
I'll send the ravens
I'll send them far
I'll send the ravens
I'll send them far away
Fly my ravens, fly
5. Sacrifice 08:10
  Sacrifice his left eye
Sacrifice for the well of wisdom
Sacrifice, the ash so old
Sacrifice, Oden's galow
Sacrifice nine long nights
Sacrifice, baptized in blood
The runes he found, the runes of power
Nine are the magic songs
Learn the nine magic songs to cease the power of the runes
The mead of wisdom, the tounge of poetry
And to speak with the dead with Miner's head
The magic runes, the ancient spell must be read and written from the heart
The scars of the runes are filled with blood
And not to fall a sacrifice must be done
Rista Råda Färga Fresta Bedja Blota Sända Slopa
6. Helheimsfärd 06:35
Nine nights he ride through valleys of darkness
No light, nor shadows for nine nights so black
The river so fierce kills all the sounds
The bridge he must cross, the bridge of the dead
The path to Hel where only the pale can pass
The gates of Hel where only the dead can pass
Carry me Sleipner fast as the wind
Fly Sleipner, fly over the gates
To enter the halls of death
To enter the dead ones fate
To enter his brothers grave
To enter for his return
All must weep, all must sacrifice
Their tears of life for his return
7. The Deceiver Shall Repent 04:10
He was hiding behind four doors, north and south east and west But there is no escape from his sins and his betrayal will be redeemed One of his sons forever condemned to the shape of the greatest of wolfs Destined to take his brother's life The deceiver shall repent Chained down to the three mighty stones bound by the chains of flesh A poisonous snake above with an andless stream of venom tearing his face apart Damned by all but his beloved, Sigyn is always by his side She will ease his torment and pain with her cauldron of relief The ground will shake along with his pain and wrath Bound until the day of days
8. Post Ragnarök 04:33
Under the blackened sun the earth is drowning Stars burst into flames, falling The mist, the fire, the heat touches the sky All chains are broken, all seals are open the world rises a second time A new beginning Resurrection of truth and light Beneath dwells the snake of shadows The shimmering cold snake Will we succeed where the mighty has failed To follow the true path Beware of the cold that dwells in the dark Waiting, longing for our sins
9. Our Legacy 05:13
Behold our land, our land of the North Our legacy to keep untouched The lakes are so clear The forests, our dark forests A nocturnal beauty that takes the breath away The silence cries The winter, the absence of the sun Fires burning bright through our darkest nights Fires burning bright within our hearts

VESTIGES / PANOPTICON (2013)

SHADE EMPIRE - ENTREVISTA

Unspeakably brutal guitar patterns, multi-layered and yet beautiful synth walls, ingenious arrangements combined with electronics, devastating drum parts, complex bass assaults and the unique vocals coming straight from the deep pits of Hell! Formed in Kuopio Finland 1999, Shade Empire has developed its own genre.
FACEBOOK QUOTE

Eero Mantere, founding member and bassist of the Swedish Shade Empire responds to this interview

1. Shade Empire born in 1999, today you are the only original member of the first lineup that still is part of Shade Empire, what are your memories of the beginnings of the band? How sound has influenced different Shade Empire lineup changes it has undergone over the years and especially the recent addition of the guitars Kivimäki Aapeli this year?

Yes, it' s sure been a while when we started. Actually I (Mantere) and our guitarist Sirkkiä formed the band back then. I have only good memories from the early years! Everything was so innocent and the songwriting process and playing itself was like finding new things all the time. We started to play together and got a few friends along and after some changes got the lineup that remained many years. We have gone quite far with just a few lineup changes because we all are good friends and keep in touch outside the band also. We have done only one gig with Aapeli yet but he seems to be very nice person and have great playing skills. So I think he'll be important person for the band in the future!

2. How was the process of writing and recording of "Omega Arcane "? Does the writing process rests with one person or all contribute ideas?

Savolainen and Sirkkiä wrote the whole material together by making quite final demo versions of the songs. The rest of us just trained our parts and of course added some own flavors to our parts before the recordings. OF course we all listened to demos and thought about some changes and like that. Harju wrote all the lyrics and is behind the whole concept of the album.

3. How did the idea of incorporating Excerpts "Omega Arcane” and the collaboration of Petra Lisitsin the voices?

Petra has visited also in our previous albums and it was natural to ask her again because we felt that some parts needed female vocals.

4. "Sinthetic " was your first album and the one that brought you some recognition , do you think that " Omega Arcane is superior to "Sinthetic "? How has the sound of Shade Empire between these two albums? What aspect highlight of "Omega Arcane "?

No i don't see Omega Arcane as a continuum to Sinthetic since we have made two albums in between them. Our sound has progressed naturally over the years. We have still quite dominant keyboard parts but not in the scale of Sinthetic. Guitars and orchestrations give also major sound to Omega Arcane as Sinthetic relied more on keyboards.

5. Your sound is very rich and varied, has elements of melodic death and black, what really define the sound of Shade Empire for someone who does not know you? What are your main musical influences?

Someone named our style as hybrid metal which gives you quite good meaning for what's going on. We have elements from different metal genres as well as from jazz and so on. We all listen to music in a very large scale. Some of us like old death metal as some listen to movie soundtracks and elevator jazz. So our influences vary very much and come form a very wide area.

6. What kind of equipment you use to record music and you use at concerts?

We recorded guitars, bass and keys in our home studios. So there was no need for amplifier stacks that we use in concerts. Computers with Cubase sequencer were in major role of the recording process… The actual instruments are pretty much the same we use live.

7. With a background as important concerts at his back, what tour or concert feels more pleased to have participated in it?

Of course touring abroad is very different than playing in Finland and has it's own advantages but I think playing in Tuska-Festival or Nummirock main stage are the highlights. Metal festivals gather usually large audience and it's great to play outdoors!

8. As for the lyrics of their songs are post-apocalyptic themes, hate, destruction Where was inspired to write the lyrics and why these issues considered important?

As I said, Harju wrote all the lyrics and is behind those stories. I think he gets his ideas from the surrounding world and it's grievances. Those themes mixed with his twisted imagination gives something that I'm not accountable, haha!

9. How did you get started in music? Why did you decide to become a musician? Reap? Today keeping the same enthusiasm as when you started?

I started to play guitar with my friends back in the years. I trained guitar on my own and at my friends' homes. First we played Metallica and such before we began playing with Sirkkiä and making our own songs little by little. As the band progressed and we got our first recording deal, playing has just came a part of living. I don't think I ever actually decided to be a musician, I'd rather say I just grew up with music and the band grew up aside. Today I don't have the same enthusiasm on training things but playing live and hanging with the guys are still the main reasons you get the kicks out of this. The energy and the feeling you get out on gigs is just something you can't get anywhere else!

10. Tell us about the Finnish music scene, how things have changed over the years? How does Shade Empire within the same?

The amount of bands has grown up tremendously and it's harder to get gigs in reasonable terms. At least smaller bands suffer from the lack of audience as the supply is so wide. We have made assorted gigs over the years so I think the audience is eager to see us.

11. Strychneen Studio has been responsible for designing the album, what do you want the cover reflect Omega Arcane and how it relates to the content of the album?

The album cover reflects the whole concept of Omega Arcane very well. It's a scenery of ruins and apocalyptic devastation; the world that's written on the lyrical theme of the album.

12. Another important point for you is the issue of “Omega Arcane" through Candlelight Records, What has it meant for you to belong to Candlelight Records? Are you satisfied with the work they have done? Will follow in the future linked to the seal?

It's great to be part of the legendary Candlelight. They are one the most legendary metal labels around and we are proud to be part of the family! We're very satisfied with their work so far and hope that our cooperation remains strong in the future also!

13. What future plans do you have for Shade Empire, as to show, upcoming releases? Are you satisfied with the response obtained "Omega Arcane "?

We are very satisfied with the response of Omega Arcane. Over all critiques and fans have been very pleased with the album and the feedback has been very incentive. We have a tour in Finland coming in January-February with Wolfheart and some gigs before that in Finland. We have also negotiated about European tour in March but there are still some days open so it's not fully confirmed. Hopefully we get to inform you about that in the very near future!

14. Thank you very much for taking the time to Black Metal Spirit, if you want to add something for the followers of Shade Empire, this is the place . I hope the questions are to your liking.

Thank you! Hope to see you somewhere in Europe next spring!

AEGROR - ENTREVISTA

The band was founded in 2009 with the vision of creating a new style of dark and passionated metal with a unique sound. The result was the debut-record "De Morbis" which was released in 2010. Whereas "De Morbis" was influenced by different styles of black metal, the songs on their 2013 EP "Forgotten Tales..." were more open-minded then ever before and claimed to create something really new. After some line-up changes AEGROR restarted as a quintett and are now working on new music. Instead of walking the old paths the bands focus is on more experimential music with a lot of influences reaching from black metal to jazz and from tech death to post rock and even to genres like classical, pop or electronic music. The 2nd album will be an extreme and crushing avantgarde metal album which is not only outstanding but groundbreaking.

Answers to this interview Mythir, drummer of the band

Good evening , how about all of Geldern ? , Thank you very much for agreeing to answer these questions.
1. Aegror was founded in 2009, how were the beginnings of the band? What do you remember of those first moments? Aegror retains some similarity? With your former band Nebelsturm?

Good evening. You're welcome.
Well in 2009 Nebelsturm has almost came to an end but we seeked new members and found Sethonas. The first song we wrote has been "Resurrection" and we recognized that the style was far away from the old school black metal we've played as Nebelsturm. Due to this we decided to change the name and restart the band.
And to today Narthaas, me and the song "Resurrection" are the last relics left of Nebelsturm.

2. After the release of your album "De Morbis" in 2010, in recent days Aegror has undergone some lineup changes, through among other things to be a quintet, how these changes have affected the structure of Aegror? Did you ever think to terminate the band?

I'd say there have been two point in our lineup history which influenced us the most.
That has been the point Sethones joined us because his guitar skills opened up new possibilities to us and incite the rest of us to become better even though he left the band in the meantime. And the other point has been Narthaas decision to quit the guitar playing and focus on his vocals. It allows him to be more variable and creative.

3. "Forgotten Tales ..." is your Ep of 2013, how would you describe this work with respect to "De Morbis"? Was really Ep editing this you had planned or are working on another type of release for example an entire album that has been truncated by changes Aegror members?

In fact you're right. The origin plan was to write a full length album with an lyrical concept about the world of the Plaquebreeder we've introduced on "De morbis".
During the writing process we had to realize that this challenge was to hard for us at that time and we decided to delay it.
But we've already finished some songs we won't waste. Thats the reason why we released them as an EP.
If you read the lyrics you'll recognize that the first four songs are thematically coherent. These are those we wrote for the concept.

4. How is your way of writing and recording, all contribute ideas or comply with a decision of a leader?

We decided to make all decisions on a democratic basis. Everbody is allowed to contribute his ideas and we all decide which one we'll use.

5. What used to recording equipment and equipment used for concerts?

We us everything that sounds good. Marshall, Mesa Boogie, Markbass, Ddrum, Hughes&Kettner, Gibson, ESP, Paiste and so on...

6. Listening to this "Forgotten Tales ..." I have come to mind bands like Dissection or reminiscent of the Scandinavian melodic death, I suppose that the influences of the five members of Aegror will be varied, but what you consider bands as a major influence on the sound of Aegror?

The funny part here is that no one of us even listen to Dissection but people often compares us with them. I'd say the major influence changes from time to time but at the moment we're mainly influenced by bands like Naglfar or Hypocrisy.

7. Another striking aspect of this EP is the sound made , very professional, who was in charge of production? Is this a look you cared and that you especially can take a leap of quality?

Yes we definitly cared about the sound. Back then as we released "De morbis" we've been pleased with its sound but in the following time we had to recognize that its not as perfect as we want it to be. Our songs have become better and the sound should compare to it. So we decided to record the EP in the Metallurgy studios in Mönchengladbach by Andreas Funke and he did an awesome job.

8. Diseases and mental disorders were lyrical themes present in your debut album and are also present in this Ep, why do you consider interesting and important to deal with these issues in their lyrics?

The reason is quite simple. I work with handicapped people and I had to learn a lot about different diseases, disorders etc. In the beginning of Aegror I wrote the lyrics mostly and my job was my main inspiration.

9. Whenever you have given considerable importance to concerts, what next concert is planned? What has been your best show?

Our next concert will be the Metalnight Xanten with Amputation, Witchtower and some other bands. It will be the first show with the new lineup and we're pretty excited.
My favorite show was the headliner slot at the Taunus Open Air III. It has been a great show and an awesome evening at all.

10. Who designed the cover of "Forgotten Tales ..."? What purports to represent her and how it relates to the content of the Ep?

The cover is made by Roan Suvelis. He did the whole artwork incl. photos. The whole style is a combination of the "Forgotten Tales..." idea with the burning book on the one hand. And on the other hand the dark "1984" like world as its described in "Behind walls"

11. "De Morbis " was self-produced , and this " Forgotten Tales ... " is available for free download on your page , by hand, is No record label was interested in publishing your work or believe that in this way you have more control over your work ? On the other hand, why the decision to offer the Ep for free?

We decided to offer the EP for free because of our experiences with "De morbis". We spent a lot of money to produce the CD and we had to realize that we won't ever sell enough to refinance it.
So if the first the cd was hard to sell why should the second one sell easier?
Our hope was that the free EP would help us to become more known and perhaps people who listens to the EP will buy the CD too. And it seems to work.

12. What future plans do you have for the band regarding upcoming releases, upcoming concerts. ?

We'll play a show this month and we're looking for more opportunities to play life but we're focussing on teaching our old songs to the new members and than starting the writing process for the next album.

13. Thank you very much for taking the time to Black Metal Spirit, if you want to add something for the followers of Aegror , this is the place . I hope the questions are to your liking.

Thank you for giving us this opportunity. The only thing I have to say is: Everyone who reads this, go to www.aegror.de , download the "Forgotten Tales..." and enjoy 25 mins of badass black/death metal !!!

FORGOTTEN TALES... (2013)
1. Buried in Oblivion 04:29
Lost in this world, failed to refuse the truth.
Trapped in this sphere, I try to bear remembrance.
Enfold by chains, forced to remain silent.
Thoughts of escape, banished and drowned.

In despair and agony I stray around alone.
All dismay and misery have dazed my mind in blame.

This world is cold and so am I,
Lost and erased.
No moment last to the end.
Can you hear me?

But what remains?
Are we condamned to suffer?
Eternally we wait,
for the moment to come.
A celebration of sorrow,
celebration of guilt.
A celebration of pain.
Buried in oblivion.

The night i fucked my memorys
I've burned and denied my feelings

My burden and sacrifice became so valueless.
All regret and repentance is lost in ignorance.
The torment and exhaustion another wasted toil.

This world is cold and so am I,
Lost and erased.
No moment last to the end.
Can you hear me?

But what remains?
Are we condamned to suffer?
Eternaly we wait,
for the moment to come.
A celebration of sorrow,
celebration of guilt.
A celebration of pain.
Buried in oblivion.
2. Prophecy 04:30
 I listened to his words
He told me of a legend

About the ancient genesis
The origin of this world
Once there was a virus
Infectious and resistant

One being
Will come
To execute
The prophecy
One creature
Will crave
to fulfill

The old forgotten tales
of a new born virus
Morbid saga of plaque and pain
The way of our lifes
written down in our gene
Selected to defile the future

There was no resistance
Against this new mutation
Epidemic rise of failure
A septic break of dawn

The arrival of ill
Relentless damnation

One being
Will come
To execute
The prophecy
One creature
Will crave
to fulfill

The old forgotten tales
of a new born virus
Morbid saga of plaque and pain
The way of our lifes
written down in our gene
Selected to defile the future

But this is not the end
the war has just began
One creature
Will rise
deep within you
3. Manipulation 04:19
  Carved in eschar
Written with blood
Tale of your life

Losing your freedom
Controlled by him
Moribund moron

Forget your beloved
Taking leave now
Surrender to him

Live! Work! Mourn! Die!
Follow the rules!
Kneel! Crawl! Hide! Pray!
Accept your fate! - You damn...
Fool, forsake your hope, forsake your will, forsake your forlorn live
and assimilate
Now, forsake your hope, forsake your will, forsake your fucking live
(and) be frail for manipulation

Believe in despair
Accept the truth
Decline your past

Dare the mutation
You won't regret
Fullfill your fate

Don't disappoint us
Adopt our manner
Ignore your will

Depraved and complete
Praise your master
Assimilation

Live! Work! Mourn! Die!
Follow the rules!
Kneel! Crawl! Hide! Pray!
Accept your fate! - You damn...
Fool, forsake your hope, forsake your will, forsake your forlorn live
and assimilate
Now, forsake your hope, forsake your will, forsake your fucking live
(and) be frail for manipulation

See him, the man behind. The shade inside your brain.
The fate and the fortune. The root of all insane.
Feel him, mortal fear. The doubt inside your heart.
The curse and the blessing. The face behind your harm.

Live! Work! Mourn! Die!
Follow the rules!
Kneel! Crawl! Hide! Pray!
Accept your fate! - You damn...
Fool, forsake your hope, forsake your will, forsake your forlorn live
and assimilate
Now, forsake your hope, forsake your will, forsake your fucking live
(and) be frail for manipulation
4. One to Lead 04:37
I deform your soul
Void your mind
I speak to the sick
I destroy the flesh of men
Plague is live
I, I will shift your shape
I desecrate your beliefs
I, I am the one to lead
The insane

Fall down, pretend to me
I scrape so violently
The fake truth of of your face
Kneel down and bow to me
Beg for inequity
Slavish obedience
I'm the god of pestilence

I am the one to lead you
Far away, into blackness
I am the last who leads you
Far away, into sickness

I, I force you to repent
End your live
I, infect your kind
I, I show you the way
Life demise
I, I breath all of your lies
I, I avoid the light
I, I see through the eyes
Of a traitor

Fall down, pretend to me
I scrape so violently
The fake truth of of your face
Kneel down and bow to me
Beg for inequity
Slavish obedience
I'm the god of pestilence

I am the one to lead you
Far away, into blackness
I am the last who leads you
Far away, into sickness

I infect your kind and your wreched mind
I speak to the sick
And see through the eyes
Breath all of your lies
Plaque is life

I am the one to lead you
Far away, into blackness
I am the last to lead you
Far away, into sickness
5. Behind Walls 05:24
When darkness rises liars in wait
There is no god above you

When fire is raging faceless agents watching your steps
Stay away from (the) truth

They
Stare

Away from all humanity
Observed by cold machines
No longer safe from murder
Of common sense and thoughts

Wasted knowledge takes away your mind
Lack of comprehension

Kneel down face down learn to obey
Give up for slavery

Now we reached the point
Where you cant turn at all
Society has failed
The system won the fight

When this world breaks down
In which you were born
When the sky glows roan
Time is there to rise

Walking like ghosts
Through cities and streets
It¥s all so quiet and still
Not even the wind blows

Cold machines
Burn the ground

Fight against
What held us down

Break free for
Freedom

Away from all humanity
Observed by cold machines
No longer safe from murder
Of common sense and thoughts
