SAUROCTONOS - ENTREVISTA

1. Tell us a bit like the idea of forming Sauroctonos. How difficult is the coexistence within the group? Who is the leader of the now compose, or all aportais ideas and you respect?

Back in 2005 when we were teenagers we had this desire to play as fast and heavy as we could, so we started to gather in basements and did our best to sound like our black metal idols from Norway. That is the most truthful idea of forming Sauroctonos, I believe. Now the things are quite different.

Yuriy: Nick is the main music generator, I give him some advices from time to time and compose the drum parts and most of the lyrics.

2. Could you tell us a little as has been the process of composing this work? What issues have motivated you when composing?

2011 was the year of composing and recording "Our Cold Days...". We were digging a lot of different music and this had a heavy impact on Sauroctonos. We gathered at Nick's house and spent nights creating. We had this idea of bringing beauty into the origins of our harsh music and it gave us fuel for creating.

3. If I'm not mistaken before this album "Our Cold Days Are Still Here When The Lights Are Out", which is titled "All Turns To Ashes", ediatado in 2009 and does not appear in your discography. What can you tell us about him and later change the style of the band?

That's true, "All Turns To Ashes" doesn't belong to our official discography. This is a recording of our early material and our first attempt to make a studio record. I guess those phrenetics who would be really interested in history of the band will dig it. The idea of this album was in describing the dark sides of nature.

4. What does the name of the group? Did you try your lyrics?

Sauroctonos has many different meanings. During the "All Turns To Ashes" period we've interpreted it as the occult meaning of the position of planets. Now Sauroctonos means to us the answers to all questions about being that we ask ourselves during our lifetime.

5. "Our Cold Days Are Still Here When The Lights Are Out" has been edited by sio Arx Productions, Ukrainian stamp, Do you feel comfortable in it? What is your relationship with it?

Arx have done a decent job in releasing and distributing the album worldwide. We have no relations with them now actually. We might re-release "Our Cold Days..." on another label in the future.

6. What were your beginnings in music? What bands are you listening to lately?

Yuriy: The beginning - as it was mentioned before - was definitely black metal. The most raw and harsh stuff you could ever imagine. Anaal Nathrakh were my favourite.
Lately a huge twist of tastes occured - as well as my approach to drumming. Peter Gabriel, Kevin Moore, Massive Attack. Steven Wilson's ambient side-projects. Swans are my biggest recent music discovery.
However there are still those rare evenings in my life when I can absorb a good longplay of Peste Noire. And I absolutely loved "Vanitas" when it came out last year.

Nick: In the beginning of my activity as a guitarist I was listening to technical death metal stuff: Death, Morbid Angel, Atheist, Cynic etc. Then I started to get involved into black metal genres, I was digging Gorgoroth, early Dimmu Borgir, Immortal, Emperor and others. Lately I am listening to progressive and post rock/metal genres.

7. Is there any relationship or concept hidden in the songs and the Bearer of the disc?

There is actually a concept story of a ghost who gives his love to a human being and takes him away to his world.

8. Well are you working on new material?, If so, what can you tell us about him?

We are working on some new material which is intended to appear on a split with The Last Days and White Ward. It appears to be the summation of all shades of Sauroctonos sound and has the final feature of our ideas at the moment. It is heavy influenced by our stepping on a path of spiritual development.

9. How do you see the future of Sauroctonos? What are your ambitions for the future Sauroctonos?

We will make our future recordings with more serious approach. We hope to start giving great gigs. We will develop as a band.

10. Are you giving concerts with Sauroctonos?, If so, how it is being received by the public? Is it very difficult to convey the feelings of your live music?, Otherwise Do you plan to give concerts in the future?

We haven't performed live since 2009. Conveying feelings of our music is not difficult at all. It is more than awesome. Black metal vibes have deep, inner and very powerful energy.

11. Thank you very much for your time, if you want to add something for people who like Sauroctonos, this is it, thanks. I hope the questions are to your liking.

Keep your mind clear.
