Cuando parecía que los colombianos Inquisition ya lo habían dicho todo en sus más de treinta años de carrera, van y se sacan de la manga un octavo álbum que lo vuelve a situar en lo más alto dentro del black metal. Mas de una hora y doce temas después, se pude decir que estamos ante uno de los mejores álbumes de black metal editado en fechas recientes. Para este "Black Mass for a Mass Grave" han buceado mucho más en las profundidades de los sonidos que les han influenciado a la hora de construir su propuesta para dejarse atrapar por el sonido y estructuras del rock de los años setenta y sesenta para que su black metal suene atemporal, como sustentado en el tiempo, dejando fluir los riffs de guitarra de forma limpia, creando un atmósfera y ambiente evocador de paisajes fríos y solitarios, sin caer en excesos en cuanto a velocidad, como si el rock-progresivo se hubiera colado descaradamente en el local de ensayo. Unas acertadas líneas de teclados acompañan a la mayoría de las composiciones, añadiendo algunos elementos melódicos que complementan perfectamente a los que emanan de las líneas de guitarra. Otro elemento a tener en cuenta para este nuevo trabajo es la manera en la cual se ha encajado la batería, manteniendo esa línea pausada y potente, con mucho groove, contundente cuando es requerida, pero al tener que dar forma a un sonido en el cual el ritmo no es muy elevado sorprende por su presencia y el cuerpo que logra dar al álbum. La voz opta por una faceta rasgada, a veces árida, en la línea que no tiene acostumbrado la banda, con un estilo mucho más black que parece querer despertarnos de la ensoñación del apartado musical para devolvernos a la oscuridad. Un álbum que sorprende por el resultado final conseguido, sin echar mano de un muro de sonido, optando por una faceta mucho más plana y lineal logran una profundidad y amplitud al alcance de muy pocos, construyendo a partir de una guitarra limpia a la cual se le añade una segundo que es mucho más dinámica con estilos que van desde el sonido más clásico, al thrash, elementos melódicos y crudeza cunado es necesario. Un trabajo para descubrir por uno mismo y perderse en cada nota del mismo. (8).
