 OUR JOURNEY THROUGH FOREVER (2022)

Que mejor forma de celebrar los veinticinco años de carrera de una banda que repasando su trayectoria en forma de un doble álbum que recoge un total de veinte temas a lo largo de más de dos horas, en donde el oyente pude disfrutar de la regrabación de algunos temas incluidos en anteriores lanzamientos. Bien es cierto que la carrera de la banda tuvo en periodo de silencio de varios años, pero hay que reconocer el valor de regresar en plena forma, al mismo tiempo que regalan a sus fans varios temas regrabados que completan con dos acústicos inéditos, sin olvidarse por supuesto de los oyentes que los han conocido en fechas más recientes y tienen un aquí un forma de conocer más sobre la banda. Ceremonial Castings ofrece un black sinfónico, digamos que rico en matices, en donde hay lugar para lo medios tiempos, destacando por unas voces agresivas, una ambientación gótica y oscura, siniestra casi que por momentos, sin volverse locos tanto con las velocidad o la inclusión de ambientes cargados pero que siguen a día de hoy siendo capaces de recrear el sonido de los noventa de manera convincente al tiempo que se adapta a los nuevos tiempos. Por momentos la música puede dejar un regusto a clásicos como Bal-Sagoth. al tiempo que hay un excelente trabajo de guitarras, acompañadas de teclados que no renuncian a cierta melodía, sonando compactos en las secciones más rápidas y creando una atmosfera de influencias lúgubres. Bien es cierto que al recoger y abarcar un espacio de tiempo tan largo, ciertas facetas del álbum adolecen de cierta continuidad entre si mostrando momentos y secciones de la música de Ceremonial Castings un tanto imprecisos, aunque para darnos una idea de la larga trayectoria de la banda, cumple a la perfección. CEREMONIAL CASTINGS

CTHULHU (2014)

La peor noticia que nos puede dejar esta álbum es que sirva de epitafio para la carrera de la veterana banda estadounidense después de dieciocho años de carrera.  "Cthulhu" como su nombre indica esta inspirada en la obra de H.P. Lovecraft, escritor y obra reconocida y respetada en las escena, ¿cuántas veces ha servido su obra para inspiración y temática de una obra de la música extrema?. Lo que tenemos aquí es una obra conceptual en toda regla, con un inicio, un desarrollo y un final que se nos va hasta los setenta minutos de duración. Un tiempo más que extenso para un trabajo de black metal pero la verdad es que prácticamente logra mantener la atención del oyente en toda su longitud gracias al buen hacer la banda que ha conseguido un acople entre la vertiente más violenta y rápida de su música de gran influencia black y death, con la atmósfera etérea, vacua y de soledad que logran el añadido de teclados y algunas partes de guitarras y voces limpias. Asistir a la audición de este álbum es afrontar un viaje inmersivo en la obra de Lovecraft en toda regla, la banda ha arrancado una musicalidad fuera de toda duda logrando una riqueza de sonido difícil de comparar, aportando un ambiente oscuro y endemoniado a todas las composiciones. Guitarras afiladas no exentas de ciertas melodías, una buena batería, rápida y aplastante, ciertos adornos de teclado que aumentan la vertiente algo sinfónica de su música y las voces que rugen con fuerza pero también son capeces de aparecer en pasajes hablado, casi susurrados, quien conozca a Bal-Sagoth, sabrá de lo que hablo. La edición digital disponible en su bandcamp y la edición física se entrega con un segundo cd con un solo tema instrumental de cerca de una hora de duración. (8,7).

Not even the gates of heaven could rival these dimensions. Here surely rests the supreme dweller. Deepest of deepest ones laying behind the wall of sleep. MARCH OF THE DEATHCULT (2011)

Ceremonial Casting se creó en 1996 y ha llegado hasta nuestros días con una sólida carrera creada a base de una casi perfecta combinación entre black melódico y sinfónico con cierto aire death en algunas partes. Su sonido tiene un fuerte componente de clásico, muy pocas bandas tienen la capacidad de recrear de manera tan fiel un sonido tan característico. el trabajo de OldNick a los teclados es soberbio y logra crear unas atmósferas tremendamente mística y oscura a base sintetizadores muy bien acoplados a las composiciones. Lord Serpent, simplemente soberbio en las guitarras unos riffs muy acertados y rápidos, a la batería Blood Hammer también consigue un buen sonido clásico. Todo en su música desprende un sabor clásico, oscuro y místico. Lord Serpent se lo curra muchísimo en las voces en las cuales también es un cierto la incorporación de coros, las guitarras por momentos son de una dureza tremenda y los teclados simplemente logran infundir un peso melódico, pero al mismo tiempo esotérico a los temas. Carrera interesante la de los estadounidense que ha dejado en su camino un montón de buenos álbumes que deberían de ser apreciados en su justa medida por todo buen seguidor de black melódico. (8,2).
