El bueno de Nergal regresa con su enésimo lanzamiento con sus criatura de Behemoth en donde parace que ha querido aislarse y alejarse, por que no, de la dirección que llevaba sus carrera a tenor de lo ofrecido en sus últimos lanzamientos, para querer buscar cierta inspiración en sus sonido más clásico, sin un enfoque completo en este sentido, pero si dejando un sabor a mayor concreción y potencia de sonido. Uno de los aspectos esenciales de este nuevo álbum, es la duración de los temas, la cual se muestra más comedida permitiendo que la música no se presente tan adornada de ciertos artificios que hasta no hace tanto entorpecía un tanto el fluir de la propuesta de Behemoth. Por lo demás al álbum tiene un carácter oscuro y profundo en muchos sentidos, ciertos arreglos orquestales aún están presentes pero su función es más la de darle cierta amplitud al sonido, y una ambientación algo más oscura, que la de actuar de mera comparsa en el conjunto. Desde el inicio se ve que el sonido va a ser mucho más conciso, con un entramado de guitarras potentes y precisas que alternan esa dosis de contundencia, con secciones que no se arredran de cierto componente melódico, conservando en esencia esa propuesta black/death que les sirvió para forjar su historia a lo largo de estos años, ofreciendo elementos que puedan aproximarlos al thrash o a un death melódico más clásico. El ritmo también se ha aumentado, como mínimo la no presencia de tantos pasajes ambientales, permite que el álbum fluya con mayor precisión, al mismo tiempo que la batería ejerce un sonido poderoso, profundo, directo y como siempre preciso. Lo mismo podemos decir de las voces, con ese aura clásica dentro del death, algunos rugidos más cercanos al black y como siempre cierta variedad de registros a la hora de darle dinamismo y amplitud al conjunto. Un enésimo álbum para los polacos que vuelven a reafirma su condición de clásicos, pero esta vez si que de forma más concisa, teniendo en cuenta la influencia del sonido que ellos mismo ayudaron a forjar hace más de dos décadas y donde cierta simpleza en el conjunto permite que el álbum nos deje cierta esperanza en el sentido de que no se les ha olvidado todo lo bueno de antaño. A FOREST (2020)
Diría sin miedo a equivocarme que la época dorada de Behemoth es historia y con esta época dorada me refiero a la que abarca su sonido más característico black/death, desde sus cuatro primeras demos, hasta finales de la década del dos mil. Con esto no estoy criticando que las bandas no deban evolucionar y ofrecer un sonido más acorde con lo que les apetece hacer en ese momento, habría eso si que discutir si deberían seguir bajo la misma denominación o buscarse otro que acogiera estos nuevos sonidos y estilos que poco o nada tienen que ver con lo origines de la banda. Dicho esto no merece mucho la pena perder el tiempo con los cuatro temas del EP, los dos primeros son una versión de estudio y en directo del tema "A Forest" de The Cure en el cual sólo cabría salvar de la versión en directo algún buen momento de batería que recuerda al sonido de hace una década de la banda y tragarse unas voces lamentables, sobre todo en la versión en directo. Los otros dos temas son descartes de su álbum "I Loved You At Your Darkest". El primero de ellos "Shadows ov Ea Cast upon Golgotha" si que se muestra acorde con un sonido black/death, pero acaba por parecer incompleto y algo falto de vida. Esto último sucede con "Evoe", que cierra el EP del manera patética. (6).
